Hi

Help please! The evenings after I get younger DS to bed is one of the few times we spend together and DD will come down from her room.

We have found that we both have a love for this type of series and so far have worked our way through all of Line of Duty, the Bodyguard , Happy Valley, the Fall and Broadchurch. I think I must be missing some really obvious ones? What is Silent Witness like? Is Marcella any good? Vet open to ideas. Ideally something with quite a few episodes or series but similarly love a 3 part BBC drama.

DS is away tonight so would love to start watching some uhh with her tonight. I have Netflix/ Prime/ Now (which I think also includes Sky) thanks!

Actually are they thrillers? Maybe more detective/ crime/ drama! Not sure what they would be categorised as. Either way hopefully you'll get the gist.

Thrillers I’ve enjoyed:

Killing Eve
The Secrets She Keeps
The Missing
Informer
The Undoing
The Stranger
Gold digger
The Killing (subtitled)
Thirteen
The Replacement
Big Little Lies

Can’t comment on Silent Witness or Marcella as I haven’t watched them yet Smile

Gladioli23 · 23/08/2021 14:53

Unforgotten is very good, but not usually very action-filled.

If you want something a bit more glamorous, I have really enjoyed White Collar.

Not a series, and set in the past but I enjoyed The 42 Steps very much. Another historical one is the Bletchley Circle.

Silk is excellent, but a legal drama not specifically investigation.

PrentonPark · 23/08/2021 14:53

When my kids were a bit younger we watched La Casa de Papel/Money Heist on Netflix - it's nonsense but highly enjoyable and entertaining nonsense.

MattDamon · 23/08/2021 15:11

Both seasons of The Missing.

lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 23/08/2021 15:35

Thanks all. I have seen a few of these on my own that I wish I hadn't as I like is trying to figure out the storyline together. Really liked Big little Lies and yes also thanks we watched Money Heist. We loved that Thankyou.

Will have a look at The Missing and some of the others. A great list to look at. Thanks!

I’m watching Cruel Summer at the moment which I’m enjoying

Zippy1510 · 23/08/2021 15:59

The missing is great. As is cruel summer on prime as the pp mentioned.

runwithme · 23/08/2021 16:34

How old is DD? I have really enjoyed You, but I wouldn't watch it with DS13. It's probably more suited for 15+
We've been watching The Wilds, Panic and Outer Banks, which he's loved. Main characters of all are teens, which appealed to him. Going to start Cruel Summer next

PlanDeRaccordement · 23/08/2021 16:36

Dark is good has a bit of time travel in it...

ChaseTheSun · 23/08/2021 16:36

My teenage DD really enjoyed The Stranger and binge watched it in a day!

cataline · 23/08/2021 16:41

We're watching Luther with our 14 year old at the moment. It's fab.

nestletoulouse · 23/08/2021 16:50

Mare of Easttown
Cheat
The Stranger
Cruel Summer

Palavah · 23/08/2021 18:21

Killing Eve?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/08/2021 20:00

My DD (19) is bingewatching "Ciminal Mindds" at the moment, there are 15 series though Shock

She also liked :

Whitechapel
The Missing
Baptiste
Luther (of course )

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/08/2021 20:02

If you can find some the old Trial&Retribution
or Prime Suspect
Worth a watch

I'd give Gangs of London a bodyswerve

And I'm the only one in my household who cannot abide Peaky Blinders !

HollowTalk · 23/08/2021 20:17

What would she be like with subtitles? The Killing and The Bridge (both Danish) have been the best things I've ever seen on TV.

HotMessMama · 23/08/2021 20:20

How old is your DD?? Some might be too hard hitting:

Unbelievable
Safe
Top Boy
Making a murderer
White House Farm
Narcos
The Innocent Man
When they see us
Homeland
(all on Netflix)

farnworth · 23/08/2021 20:23

Lupin
Teenage kids loved it - even recommended it to friends.!
Super stylish, quirky French thriller/drama

GnomeDePlume · 25/08/2021 08:26

Prime Suspect especially the first one is stand out for me. It paved the way for many of the female lead dramas which came later.

Waking The Dead especially the first few series. The ensemble acting was excellent.

Not a thriller but Gosford Park (on Netflix) is an excellent mystery and the cinematography is very telling.

CSI early series are excellent and it is interesting to play 'spot the true crime'

@lemonsaretheonlyfruit
www.amazon.co.uk/The-Wilds-Season-1/dp/B08NM1LVGW

The Wilds on Amazon is good for an adult/late teen audience

JohannSebastianBach · 21/07/2022 09:23

Bit old now but still fantastic Scott and Bailey

OldFashionedWoman · 22/07/2022 14:23

There's a thriller that was excellent but can't remember the name. Hmm

If I describe it, someone may recognise it 🤞🏼

A young male soldier gets accused of murdering his young female lawyer. He denies this but there's cctv that appears to prove his guilt.

It's excellent.

OldFashionedWoman · 22/07/2022 14:24

Also The Undeclared War on 4player at the moment is very good.
