Anyone else watching? I’m enjoying it. Sandra Oh is on her usual magnificent form. It’s sailing close to the wind in a few places too, which is no bad thing in this day and age.

I definitely will be starting this soon, but I am away for a few days. Love Sandra Oh.

boatyardblues · 20/08/2021 20:36

Jay Duplass is great as her colleague/sometime squeeze.

Thanks for the reminder. I have a long train journey over the weekend.

boatyardblues · 20/08/2021 21:00

I’m half watching through my fingers. Vicarious embarrassment.

I pressed play when I meant just to add to my list. I'm really enjoying it!

boatyardblues · 20/08/2021 22:43

I binged it and finished it this evening. It is excellent. 👏

I've saved myself a couple of episodes to watch Sunday evening. I like all the characters which is unusual.
I love seeing Sandra Oh in a comedy.

Sliceofcherrypie · 21/08/2021 14:28

Started yesterday, finished today! I thought it was great. Haven't watched Killing Eve.

MareofBeasttown · 22/08/2021 13:48

I am loving this, but Bill is such a pain in the ass. Poor Ji-Yoon ( Sandra) having to deal with all these narcissistic men. Also love Taylor Holland and Bob Balaban in this.

Pucarbuile · 22/08/2021 14:26

We ended up binging it last night. I was really looking forward to it but I didn't think it lived up to my hope. It wasn't funny enough for a rom com or serious enough for a dramedy. I love Sandra Oh and Taylor Holland though, and the little girl was brilliant, so if there's a season 2 I will give it a try.

MareofBeasttown · 22/08/2021 14:32

I don't know why I said Taylor Holland. It's Holland Taylor!

Pucarbuile · 22/08/2021 14:36

And I just copied you Blush

Usuallytootiredbuthappyanyway · 22/08/2021 15:16

I loved it! Watched the whole lot on Friday afternoon/evening and got upset when I realised there were only 6 episodes. Called my sister the next day to recommend it only to find she'd done the same thing. I have a girl crush on Sandra Oh, love an academic setting + enjoyed all the characters :)

BlossomOnTrees · 22/08/2021 18:59

Watched the 1st episode and found it dull. Does it get better?

boatyardblues · 23/08/2021 07:43

It continues in a similar vein. If it’s not your thing, it’s not your thing.

It was a bit meh, I thought. I liked it enough to watch all the episodes, but only because there were just 6. If it had been a 12 part series I’d probably have given up, I love Sandra Oh though.

shumway · 23/08/2021 10:07

Loved it. Wish I had more episodes to watch. Does anyone know of anything similar?

Yeah I've just finished episode 3 and feel the same. It's fairly pleasant enough and easy to watch but I'm kind of waiting for something to happen.
ChateauMargaux · 24/08/2021 15:15

If I liked this.... what else would you recommend?

MrsLargeEmbodied · 25/08/2021 06:35

also finished episode 3,
i am continuing but underwhelmed

shamalidacdak · 25/08/2021 07:28

It was only ok, found the students to be quite twatty

boogiewithasuitcase · 25/08/2021 10:41

I'm clearly in the minority here, but I enjoyed it because it dealt with sensitive topics cleverly, and it wasn't overly dramatic. It reminded me a bit of The West Wing.

That was the point. I have friends working in UK universities and from what they tell me, this stuff is becoming more common. You only have to look at cases coming out of some the US liberal arts colleges to see that this is satire based in real life incidents.

Same.

I loved it. It's funny and subtle. Bill is a total frustration but very likeable. Sandra Oh is sublime and beautiful. The actor who plays Joan is brilliant, her character played perfectly.
I now want to wear tank tops and cords and swan around looking like how I imagine all academics do. Hoping for more series'.
