I like how they’re generally done and dusted at the end of each episode and the murder is solved.

Is there any other shows similar to this?

Starting soon (today or tomorrow?) on Alibi is a new series called Annika with Nicola Walker. It's based on a series of books that were serialised on Radio 4 and they are great - light tone, Norwegian Boat Patrol, offbeat heroine detective who solves crimes with extensive knowledge of odd facts and trivia.

McDonald and Dodds was good - also a complete story each episode.

Incunabula · 18/08/2021 08:37

Murdoch Mysteries on Alibi is good fun.

Agatha Raisin

I never liked DIP because it was too fluffy - but something that felt similar, just a bit tougher all round, was Page Eight. (Netflix, starring Bill Nighy and Rachel Weisz.) It’s a shortish film, and there are two more afterwards, so it feels like a TV series. Very beautiful, mildly witty, moderately exciting.

Jonathan Creek

My daughter likes death in paradise so we tried Jonathan Creek and it was so dated!!! She hated it

YY to Shakespeare and Hathaway, Agatha Raisin, and Mcdonald and Dodds.

Maybe Hamish Macbeth (dated also by now, but Robert Carlyle)?

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/07/2022 09:30

Was going to suggest all those mentioned as seen them all

private eyes is quite good
