Wonder how many years it will take to fill this one? Grin

I'll never understand why they sacked Christopher Smith. He was a great actor.

Yes he was. I just googled and it's because the producers wanted an older looking actor for the more adult storylines.
I'm skipping through so much of it now, mainly any scenes with Cathy in, definitely need some new faces to liven things up.

JaneJeffer · 05/01/2022 14:18

Aww Robert.

Stopped watching at this time way back. I get that Cain is supposed to be a confused lovable rogue but no he's a dick. Is that what people thought at the time?

Robbing Kathy, upsetting Emily and robbing Gloria not on

OnTheBoardwalk · 06/01/2022 20:54

Actually just catching up with Emmerdale and they moving him back into the idiot space

JaneJeffer · 10/01/2022 13:45

Is it going to start at 1.30 from now on anyone know?

Mogloveseggs · 10/01/2022 21:08

Poor Gloria Sad
@JaneJeffer It's on at half one tomorrow if that helps?

JaneJeffer · 11/01/2022 15:11

Thanks Mog it seems to be on at 1.30 for the rest of the week. I missed an episode today but never mind. It's so much better than present day.

OP posts:
Mogloveseggs · 11/01/2022 21:40

It's repeated at 7am in the morning I think it is. Yes it's tons better that the rot that's currently being produced.

JaneJeffer · 12/01/2022 13:49

I feel so sorry for Robert.

I’m nearly caught up. Edna and Zoe are putting the boot into Gloria and it’s not looking good. Old Cain is a complete loser isn’t he? Did they send him off for two years and he came back all darkly handsome and brooding… until we find out about him and Charity.

Gumbomambo · 12/01/2022 17:13

Oh poor Robert!

JaneJeffer · 12/01/2022 17:30

We all fancied Cain even then @Gumbomambo Grin He goes through phases of being a complete dick like he was to Amy but then shows a nicer side.

It's so much better than the present day. Stories don't drag on and on. I can't believe how horrible some of the women are to each other, but there are characters you were interested in.

Gumbomambo · 12/01/2022 21:42

I think you can relate or recognise the characters and plot lines too in classic, it feels much more real even though we have just had the barn fire and court case . It felt like it could have happened. I was pretty open mouthed by how quick Bernice shuttled Gloria over to Eric’s and just how mean they all were about her. I enjoyed Emily standing up to Zak and Lisa quietly making sure he knew he was being unreasonable.

Mogloveseggs · 13/01/2022 16:57

I think that more just normal life happens in the classic episodes. We see problems that kids and teens have as well as right through the generations. There's a lot of strong women and also strong men.
Present day needs to look at this. I know that soaps want to raise awareness but sometimes less is more.

JaneJeffer · 14/01/2022 13:45

Seth Grin

JaneJeffer · 14/01/2022 13:46

I remember Ed but not any of his story.

OP posts:
Gumbomambo · 18/01/2022 13:08

Funnily enough I remember Ed but no stories or any quirks about him at all. Can I just say Zoe needs to stop being so evil to Charity, what an nasty bully, would back charity against her any day. Why is she so invested in her brothers sex life it’s absolutely like she’s his ex not his sister. How different are Nicola and charity to present day characters? I love present day Charity, she’s always been good at the drama and the comedy. My mum loves Nicola and Jimmy together but it’s always so overdone and forced like paddy and marlon.

JaneJeffer · 19/01/2022 13:55

This story with Trisha is very contrived so that the actress could go on maternity leave Grin

AHH thank you JaneJeffer
I thought she looked pregnant when catching up today, but I did want to Google Sheree ,,cos ..well I did not want " spoilers" for the rest of her plots !!!

JaneJeffer · 20/01/2022 20:56

Did Frankie leave? I either missed it or can't remember!

OP posts:
bizzey · 20/01/2022 21:20

Had to think then who Frankie was !

She "flounced" out of Home Farm quite a few times ...but I think Zoe finally told her to leave as she was too needy ?

Interesting thing I have noticed about Zoe, is that she always changes her hairstyles/cuts to match whichever love interest she has in her sights !

She grew it long at one point, that matched Lady Tara hair style 🤔
That would have been an interesting match !

RaraRachael · 20/01/2022 21:58

Frankie reappeared from Germany with a new head. She didn't stay very long and I can't remember her exit or if it was permanent. As a PP said, I think Zoe had finally had enough of her and showed her the door. Zoe is quite an annoying character really. I'm just remembering a big story she has in the future and can't imagine how it came about.

I wish they'd bring back some Classic characters to the current show as it badly needs a kick up the arse to keep people remotely engaged.

JaneJeffer · 20/01/2022 23:56

I liked Frankie. She was funny.
