@Snozzlemaid Robert was driving and crashed into a tree. He moved an unconscious Elaine to the driver's seat and she can't remember the truth. Naughty Robert.

This is just the start of Robert's car crash stories. Never mind Elaine I think the writers are also suffering from amnesia.

Writer 1: what can we do with Robert?
Writer 2: how about a car crash?
Repeat on a regular basis.

Plus his mother died in a car crash.

I always thought John Middleton made a very convincing vicar.
Oh for the old days when the majority of the actors could act in believable stories that we cared about.
