I just love it.

Aisling Bea is my absolute favourite.

Looks like they've left it open for another series 🤞

Yes, yesterday 🤣

Didn't like it quite as much as the first series and I'm not sure how a third will hold up but still really enjoyed it.

irishfeminist · 16/07/2021 22:40

Yes - good but it goes a bit far with the scatological humour and I'm not sure it's as funny as it thinks it is...could've done without the piles bit🤢

Babymamamama · 17/07/2021 07:36

I kind of liked it but kind of didn’t. I found some of it so cringe. I liked the array of characters, but wasn’t drawn to the Sharon Horgan and fiancé roles. I would watch another series but more just to find out where the characters end up.

🤣 I thought that bit was funny. I like that it just portrays the crap we go through in life, haemorrhoids and all.

I found them a bit screechy this series in a way that I didn't in the last one.

I loved the haemmeroid Grin

Leeds3 · 17/07/2021 13:54

Very sad about Tom.
I hope Aine ends up with Bradley...

dayswithaY · 17/07/2021 22:14

I think I preferred this series as it was a bit more light hearted.

I don't like Richard, patronising git.

Why has Shona's boyfriend got an American accent?

Shona and Charlotte would never have gone into business together with all that hostility between them.

Maireas · 17/07/2021 22:49

I agree, I think the first series was better.
It seemed to have a stronger narrative and was more obviously funny.

Maireas · 17/07/2021 22:50

I like it, though. Aisling is very funny.

Maireas · 17/07/2021 23:02

I've only watched episodes 1 and 2 - who is Marcia, the woman at Richard's house?

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 17/07/2021 23:09

Getting ready to do that very thing!

FlyingPandas · 18/07/2021 13:52

I’ve binged it and loved it. DH on the other hand couldn’t get into it at all. Both series have had a bit of a ‘Cold Feet’ feel to me (which is a massive compliment, I love Cold Feet) - ie drama with some funny moments but not an actual laugh out loud comedy and lots of lump in the throat moments too.

Aisling is (a) lovely and (b) total girl crush and (c) hugely talented and an amazing writer. Fantastic supportive cast (Indira Varma is just gorogeus). I love how Aisling draws the characters and presents people with mental health issues as neither victims nor demons, just ordinary people, doing their best to live their lives. My DM suffers with depression and a lot of this really resonated.

I do agree re Vish the fiancé though (he sounded American in this series, English in the last one!) and much as I love Tobias Menzies and think he portrays Richard very deftly, I want Aine to end up with Bradley too.

I think Marcia is Richard’s cleaner/housekeeper?

All that said, I think we’ll have a while to wait for S3. Aisling has done a lot of interviews where she’s been very honest about how gruelling she finds it to write and create the series. I get the impression she needs a bit of time away from it all.

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 18/07/2021 14:11

I loved it - think I preferred it than the first series! Lighter touch maybe. Agree not really interested in Shona and Vish - but not sure I want Aisling to end up with Bradley.

DavidTheDog · 18/07/2021 16:02

Why has Shona's boyfriend got an American accent?

This was mentioned/explained in series 1 as he worked in New York. I wondered if the actor couldn’t do a consistent English accent.

Bagelsandbrie · 18/07/2021 16:27

I’m watching this with dh. He loves it. I’m a bit meh about it. I think it tries a bit hard and I’m not the biggest fan of Aisling. I find her a bit in love with herself. Blush

SpicyMargarita · 18/07/2021 21:00

I was slightly disappointed, but then gutted when it ended! So a bit of a mix.

The guy from Outlander is too old for Aine, but I want her job to go well and thus she can't get with Bradley.

Maireas · 18/07/2021 22:10

Why can't she get together with Bradley if her job goes well? I don't understand, @SpicyMargarita.

FlyingPandas · 18/07/2021 22:38

I think @SpicyMargarita is confusing Bradley with James (the guy Aine is setting up a business with)?

Maireas · 18/07/2021 22:42

Oh, thank you, @FlyingPandas, that makes more sense! I really like Bradley, and liked James too, but he was a bit judgemental at the Windrush fundraiser.

DarkDarkNight · 18/07/2021 23:07

Yes, I’ve watched it. I’m not sure about Richard and Aine, but he’s so distant and cold with Etienne I want Aine in his life. I love Bradley though, I think he would be a good match.

The thing about Tom in the bathroom had me crying. It was such an honest depiction of suicide. It was very moving given that Aisling lost her dad to suicide.

I really like Shona and Vish, it was a shame not to actually have him in the series for whatever reason. I knew that bloody voice note had gone to Vish, it’s so easy to do that 😅

FlyingPandas · 19/07/2021 09:35

The way they weaved Vish into the storyline was actually quite clever - apparently the actor was stuck in NYC and wasn’t allowed to fly back for filming due to the pandemic, so he was written in that way.

@DarkDarkNight the bit that really got me was the poignancy of Aine glancing at Tom’s daughter - the expression on her face Sad

Maireas · 19/07/2021 10:16

That got me too, @FlyingPandas.
Plus the note on the screen at the end.

NeedWineNow · 20/07/2021 14:07

This sums up exactly mine and DH's feeling about it.
Teenytinytina · 20/07/2021 14:12

I've loved this. I wish I had a relationship like sisters have, they seem to forgive each other anything. I also wished that I had a family like Vish's. Do you think they exist in real life?

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 20/07/2021 14:19

My prediction for series 3

Aine will sleep with Bradley and fall pregnant and not know who the dad is.

Shonagh and Vish will stay together under the guise that they want a baby and things will be different but struggle to conceive and resent Aine’s pregnancy.
