Does anyone on here remember this series from the 60s? Most of the programmes were terrifying, but they were aimed at children. The 'Singing, Ringing Tree' had a particular impact on me. I was never the same again afterwards Shock. Saying that, several years ago I sourced a dvd of that series because I was dying to see it again. It was still horrifying Smile.

I remember the Singing Ringing Tree. I think it had a bear in it.

I remember a Czechoslovakian series but don't remember the name. Also a German series about a boy who lost his smile and a German series of Heidi. Plus the Children of Fire Mountain was good. (NZ not European)

@PuffinDodger > The 'Singing, Ringing Tree' did have a bear in it > Also a dwarf and a 'beautiful' spoilt female. There was a moral to the tale.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Singing_Ringing_Tree are you talking about this film? I did not realize it was shown internationally.

@Prokupatuscrakedatus > Yep, that's the one. I'm now not sure if it was shown under the BBC 'Tales From Europe' series, or shown as a separate thing by the BBC. But yes, we had it. I bought a DVD of it many years ago when I realised it was available from Amazon. I had to make sure I got the version that was UK video friendly in those days.

Terrifying to a child Shock, and yet absolutely wonderful Smile at the same time.

@isnotmeitsu
All my collegues who grew up in the GDR grew up with this film.
My parents did not approve of Disney, so I grew up with those DEFA fairytale movies (there are lots of them) and CSSR series like Pan Tau, as well.

I remember Heidi, my oh my that was a long time ago. Also a show called Seven Little Australians, loved that one.
