Has anyone seen this ?

It's on iPlayer. It's about an 8 year old boy 'born into the wrong body.' It's beautifully filmed but it's thrown up all sorts of questions and I can't stop thinking about it. Not a lot online about it apart from it being really well filmed.

Yes, have seen it. Feel for the parents who are trying to find the best way to support Sacha. The rigid approach of the school really didn't help.
I wonder if they will go down the route of male hormone blockers.
I imagine the producers will do a follow-up.

I'm so conflicted, I'm not sure what I think tbh. He was 8 when it was filmed that's so young. He actually reminded me of a family friend and their boy was always in a dress and clomping around in his mum's heels. He was just left to get on with it and wear what he liked. This was 40 years ago though.

I wonder why the fact he was so terrified he wasn't going to change into a girl explored more and why exactly that terrified him so much.

Loved the younger child saying "I'll tell them I'm a boy!" Grin

I thought this was well filmed and helpful to see what families must go through, it made me sad when Sasha cried and wouldn’t open up .
I found it challenging on a personal level to try not to judge as I know a friend of mine felt worried meeting a similar situation at school and it does seem it’s more the adults who mind and why ? Is it because we worry it’ll influence our own children? Our DS went through a stage of strongly wanting to choose girls shoes etc but it was different as he didn’t get upset, so we didn’t need to make any issue of it . He played with girls only for a long time but now aged 9 seems like any other boy. Nonetheless I did have a sense he could have a harder time so have sympathy for the family having never walked in their shoes. As parents we have such a strong longing for our DC to be happy and the new dance teacher shutting the door in Sasha’s face would have really upset me too

Sasha is so young and I felt that his mother was very invested in his transition, making it a fight for "Sasha to be who she really is" to the extent where it could be difficult for him to change his mind.

Also the discussion between the parents about blockers was so sad. The dad had concerns but the mum said that the doctors must know what they're doing. If there's one thing we've learnt it's that doctors really don't know what they're doing when it comes to blockers Sad
