I don't want to hijack your thread. But seen as a few people have just finished it...

I was thinking about the main character Julia, she's so selfish, like almost pathologically so. We all are at times and I think it's funny that she is like this in a way as the expectation on mother's is often to be ever giving.

I suppose this was the intention for her but then I wonder are viewers supposed to empathise with her in a way? I watched all of s3 thinking there must be some kind of redemption for her! I wonder is it more or less funny because of how she is. I also felt like seeing Amanda's mum made me understand why she is so awful

I know it's just a silly comedy but jjust having some random musing while I'm stuck in bed. I'd love to hear others thoughts.

Yes Julia is sooo selfish. She doesn’t seem to learn. She sometimes seems like she’s just out for what she can get really.

Amanda seems to have clicked that her relationship with her mother isn’t as good as Anne’s with her mother. Think she may be different next season …. Maybe.

I have also just binged this (except the Christmas special) and honestly, recognise so much of myself in Julia hopefully not so much the selfish streak but definitely the running about trying to spin 300 plates in the air, wondering how all the other parents are managing, stressing about everything, facilitating family life/husband leisure time...

I feel like Julia thinks she's the only one doing million things a once! I think it's normal to wonder how people manage though.

I actually felt a bit sorry for Amanda as Ann and her mammy were so cute where as her mu was so cold.

It’s being repeated on BBC2 on Monday 20th at 22:20. Might be on iplayer afterwards if you miss it.

I’m not sure I can cope with sitting down and watching TV live at a scheduled time! Hopefully they’ll bung it on iplayer afterwards.
