Possibly a daft question but seemed the best forum.

I was wondering if the actors got paid for these shows being aired? That must be quite good for Bruce Jones if they do as he’s really struggled?

Not sure but seems likely. He certainly blew his career didn't he? One or two Corrie actors have done that, usually men.

jay55 · 28/06/2021 16:32

They should get royalties yes.

SmellThat · 28/06/2021 18:48

How did he blow his career?

Clawdy · 28/06/2021 19:42

He was in one of our local restaurants one night, very drunk, and started ranting about a storyline, giving away spoilers, and then went on to slag off various cast members loudly. Didn't go down too well!

UhtredRagnarson · 28/06/2021 19:47

Bruce Jones had an appalling trauma as a child/teen and suffered with alcohol addiction. He wasn’t well. He “blew” his career in much the same way as someone with a heart condition did by collapsing in a restaurant.

SmellThat · 28/06/2021 19:49

thanks @Clawdy, a bit of a liability then

LarsErickssong · 28/06/2021 19:57

He will get royalties but based on a soap star I used to know I doubt it will be very much.

I think a lot of his drink problems possibly stemmed from finding a victim of the Yorkshire ripper at quite a young age.

Clawdy · 28/06/2021 21:05

Yes, he found one of the victims on an allotment, he was 24, so not that young, must have been horrible though.

LarsErickssong · 28/06/2021 21:22

Ah I thought he was a bit younger still horrific though. People suspected it was him for a while and his wife left him over it, you can't imagine what that will do to someone's mental health Sad

cornflowersandpoppies · 28/06/2021 21:26

It must have been horrible. He was awful to his wife though, wasn’t he?

Think maybe Sharon sees her job as something to be really impressed by when civil service admin jobs are literally ten a penny.

Don't think she'll do too well unless she loses that air of self importance.

Toby is going to be painful too but love his little outfit.

walkoflifewoohoo · 28/06/2021 21:54

Yeah. Wrong thread Blush

I'm glad you posted this actually as it's reminded me to look for a LI thread Grin

😂

GreenClock · 01/08/2021 10:38

I was wondering about this. I think that Phil Middlemiss had a few problems afterwards too- it was not his decision to kill off Des. The current royalties might be bittersweet, reminding them of more successful times.

x2boys · 02/08/2021 15:47

Are you on the classic corrie thread Op?

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 02/08/2021 18:21

Are they called 'royalties', or 'repeat fees'?

I used to know an actress who told me that repeat showings of her appearances in various programmes resulted in cheques landing on her doormat, which paid for her car's MOT and a new washing machine.

So not a millionaire lifestyle then!
