Sandra15 · 11/06/2021 02:35

Oh right that made up for him being a tw*t in The Pact!

Boredsillyathome · 11/06/2021 06:44

Watched all three episodes this week so good but very grim at times, love Sean Bean and Stephen Graham

GardeningDad · 21/06/2021 23:21

Started episode two earlier tonight, bloody good so far!

Slub · 21/06/2021 23:27

Best work Seen Been has ever done. Hope he gets an award for this.

Oh god yes, awful character in The Pact!
MarkRuffaloCrumble · 21/06/2021 23:42

It was brilliant - I read an article by an ex convict who said it was a very realistic portrayal of prison life. Sadly.

Both excellent actors, as were all the supporting cast. But not an enjoyable watch as such!

FourteenthDoctor · 21/06/2021 23:52

Oh no no no @Slub! Sharpe was the best. Ahem.

ClingFilmAndGafferTape · 22/06/2021 00:52

Just watched the first two tonight, planning on watching the last one tomorrow. It's pretty brutal.

UrbanRambler · 22/06/2021 01:25

Brilliantly written and well acted, this was a very absorbing series. Not easy to watch at times, but I learned a few things about prison life which made me realise how tough life can be for both prisoners and staff within the prison walls. It must be very demanding work for the prison officers, both physically and mentally, I know I couldn't do it.

TheQueef · 22/06/2021 06:21

I thought it brilliant.
Really direct and well acted (I thought all the cast were so convincing) it showed exactly how dangerous and fucking futile prison can be.
SG is a national treasure.

Lepetitpiggy · 24/06/2021 20:40

Just catching up on this. Absolutely riveted. Halfway through episode 3 and sobbing

Sandra15 · 25/06/2021 09:58

They would never have allowed Sean Bean to go out on his own though. It wasn't an open prison, was it?

Orf1abc · 25/06/2021 10:02

Prisoners can be released on temporary license towards the end of their sentence. These can be resettlement days, or for a specified purpose such as a conference.

I8toys · 25/06/2021 19:02

It was so good. I've been bored with tv dramas but this one hit the target. Two amazing actors and a brilliant storyline. I'm obsessed with prisons and relationships inside so it was really interesting to me.

JeepersJuly · 26/06/2021 09:28

Can anyone explain the acronym 'seg'?

LoveMySituation · 26/06/2021 09:35

The segregation wing

LoveMySituation · 26/06/2021 09:36

And took me a moment to work out kangasGrin

JeepersJuly · 26/06/2021 09:57

LoveMySituation thanks.

What's Kangas? Kangaroos?

LoveMySituation · 26/06/2021 09:59

Kangaroo-screw!

BeansMeansBeans · 26/06/2021 10:07

I thought it was a bit silly and clearly took itself Very Seriously.

Spoilers ahead...

I also assume it was meant to be a Cat B prison so don't see why Sean bean would get to go out by himself... Towards the end of long sentences sometimes prisoners go out with a guard to adjust them to the real world again, but I think Sean was only meant to be in for 4 years? His crime also didn't fit being asked into school as a speaker
Also I found it silly that they knew Graham's character's son was in prison and organised no protection (e.g. seg) or oversight as this would clearly make Graham a huge risk for trafficking and exploitation. Very unusual that he went down for this, usually guards get a disciplinary or a slap on the wrist. Anyway, I'm alone in my estimation of the show as most of what I've read seems to hold it in high regard!

LongDuckDong · 26/06/2021 22:50

The Sean Bean character is now working with helping young offenders.
