I like it too, but does anyone else find it a bit irritating that so few of the cast actually speak with Geordie accents? They can be in a remote part of Northumberland, and half the “locals” seem to be southern immigrants!

Brenda Blethyn's terrible attempt at an authentic accent seriously gets on my nerves. Plus Vera would have been forced into retirement by now. I do enjoy watching though - the dramatic landscape is stunning.

We’re from the NE and live in north Tyneside (often see Vera filming in the area) and when we watch we like to play the guessing game of “authentic NE accent vs fake NE accent”- it’s usually a pretty easy game!!

DH is from Northumberland, and there are a lot of people with posh southern accents who live there.

I hadn't noticed all the southerners in Vera but I've noticed all the northerners in Father Brown. Very odd. Are there many Yorkshire folk in Gloucester? I'm not that great with accents though and wouldn't know a fake one from real unless it was an American actor doing an accent from somewhere in the British isles. I don't have a strong accent at all so even the local accent here sounds different to me. I'm definitely northern though
The scenery in Vera is stunning. I'd love to visit the area and it was on my hit list before covid struck.

RampantIvy, I come from at least three centuries’ worth of Northumbrians, although my generation was born in exile in London.
I know there are southern incomers in the county, but I cannot believe that they outnumber the locals to the extent they do in Vera, especially in deprived areas with no attraction for inward migration.

It was a tad odd with the distancing. And has she moved? The farm looked very spruced up.

How many episodes were released as l can only find 2

As far as I can tell, it's only 2 eps to be shown this year and 4 more next year. Affected by covid restrictions.
