..on This Morning instead of Holly and Phil?

Just saw how well they dealt with Joey Essex in talking about his new documentary on the suicuide of his mum when he was 10. They were just lovely and helped him talk even though he was clearly struggling.
I find them a joy to watch and their relationship is effortless, not put on.
Phil and Holly have clearly grown bored of the show and it really does seem like the success has gone to their head as they just don't seem to sympathise with the callers in as much as they used to.
Also does everyone else not buy their fake laughing fits? I swear they used to be real but now they put it on as the producer obviously wants it!

Basically ITV please refresh with Alison and Dermot, a great pair!!

If I wanted to watch a grizzled auld tortoise and a toilet roll dolly, I’d watch David Attenborough in the lav.

It begs the question if they are so marvellous in real life how they manage to come over like a pair of absolute tits on their show.

KarensChoppyGob · 03/06/2021 18:03

😂

wheresmymojo · 03/06/2021 18:20

I bloody hate Ruth & Eamonn:

I find them excruciating to watch - Eamonn is that Uncle you try to avoid being cornered by at every family do.

The one that throws out shitty snarky comments but that throws a total strop if anyone calls him out on it Hmm

Ruth plays the long suffering wife well. I'd have dug him a hole years ago.

Totally agree. He looks so bored half the time, then says inappropriate things and you can imagine then getting off air and Ruth saying 'what did you say that for?' It comes across that he thinks he's above the show really.
Standrewsschool · 03/06/2021 20:42

I really like Ruth and Eamonn, especially Ruth.

I quite like Dermots radio show.

RulesRulesRulesRulesRules · 03/06/2021 21:27

Phil & Holly are AWFUL

Rainbowsew · 03/06/2021 22:17

A & D all the way for me, I'm liking how their relationship is developing and it seems more fun. P & H are no longer interesting and far too full of themselves, if anyone is unprofessional they definitely are... E was always awful but R is a consummate professional.

IMentionedTheBisque · 03/06/2021 22:24

Dermot has never had much of a personality. He was know as Dermot O'Dreary even in the 90s.

butterpuffed · 03/06/2021 23:02

@KarensChoppyGob

What do you mean by in RL butter? Do you know them? (Genuine question).

Most public platforms/SM show a similar level of dislike for them if not more than MN.

Haven't met them yet but you never know Grin

By RL I meant friends, people you know, meet, come across etc etc etc

lollipoprainbow · 03/06/2021 23:08

No Ruth and Eamonn permanently please !!

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 03/06/2021 23:50

My mam is one of the most tolerant easy going folk I know.

When turtle and tits are on she switches over to Jeremy or Dom does bulldozing or homes under attack by bees. I’m sure she doesn’t care for them much either but she cannot be doing with the gein twins.

That says all I need to know. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 04/06/2021 00:04

When Phil and Holly are on it feels like same show day after day.
When they do the Spin to Win competition it may as well be the same viewer calling every day it’s all so tired now.
Whole show needs a major overhaul.

JemimaTab · 04/06/2021 01:22

I really don’t like Phil and Holly. I find them incredibly self-indulgent, so many in-jokes etc., and the over-the-top birthday celebrations etc. The show is not supposed to be about them. Also Phil acts like he is some kind of elder statesman of broadcasting - he is not. Not for me.
Re Alison and Dermot: I don’t mind Alison, thought I think she overplays her screen persona a bit - she doesn’t need to and IMO she needs to rein it back. Dermot is very low energy somehow - I liked him when he did the Big Brother support show yonks ago but he’s not naturally witty, and the TM format really shows this up.

lollipoprainbow · 04/06/2021 08:04

Really disappointed that Ruth and Eamonn weren't presenting this week as we were promised, feels like the producers who think the sun shines out of p and h want them out for good. I ended up watching homes under the hammer instead !!

Sparklingbrook · 04/06/2021 08:06

Eamonn's unwell isn't he?

Who is presenting today?

Ccoffee217 · 04/06/2021 08:15

@JemimaTab couldn't agree more on Phil and Holly, completely up themselves! It's a shame as they used to come across more youthful and happy, easy going. Now it seems that they can't laugh at themselves as much. I genuinely hated watching through lockdown when they had no guests on and only video calls because it really showed that their relationship wasn't working anymore and felt cringey to watch.

What's everyone's thoughts on Rochelle? Personally I find the way she speaks a bit irritating! But I do like her and her hubby on the hit list!

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 04/06/2021 08:19

I don't think Rochelle and her DH are natural presenters.

I know people don't like PS but I always feel like he has everything under control. The autocue could pack up or there could be a real life event throwing everything into chaos but he'd be fine.

The 'newer' presenters that started their careers in other jobs I think would just crumble if they had to go off script.

Sparklingbrook · 04/06/2021 08:22

I am loving Cat Deeley in for Lorraine. (Who always has school holiday weeks off despite her DD being in her twenties Confused)

BillieSpain · 04/06/2021 10:16

Yes, love Cat Deeley. She does a great job.

Lorraine is beginning to annoy me massively. Totally contrived.

Sparklingbrook · 04/06/2021 10:18

I don't know how LK still has that show. At one point she and Aled Jones were presenting the main GMB bit then that was scrapped and she got her weird tack on at the end show back and Aled was dumped. I can only assume she knows some dirt on someone high up at ITV.
BillieSpain · 04/06/2021 10:26

She is SO sycophantic, it would not surprise me in the least.
I even think she exaggerates her accent recently. I loved her voice but it sounds fake now.

Gone off Lorraine! Grin

lollipoprainbow · 04/06/2021 10:38

Can't stand Lorraine she is a right nasty one and I'm sure she plays on her Scottish accent.

KarensGobbyChops · 04/06/2021 10:47

Went totally off Lorraine when she said sth really snidey about Caroline Flack r.e. her losing her LI job just before her suicide.

Was something off-the-cuff like "that's show business" , cue saccharine grin. A real flash of her true self.

JemimaTab · 04/06/2021 11:08

I don’t like the way that Lorraine is now promoting her kid via podcasts etc - as if there isn’t already enough nepotism in that business.
