A quiet corner of MN for serious addicts of Kdrama, or the K-curious. Most of our viewing is drawn from Netflix and Viki, with a sprinkling of AmazonPrime. There are also platforms streaming content illegally if you go looking, but we don’t promote them as they are peppered with pop-ups of “Olga” and friends offering a good time, which gets in the way of the drama. We also dip into Japanese, Taiwanese & Chinese drama as & when.

Shows marked with an asterisk are more uniformly loved or admired. In categorising series, its important to note most Korean dramas have multiple strands - e.g. supernatural, romance and a thriller; crime series with fantasy elements. Genre-busting mash-ups are normal. Series that are tagged as dark may also have moments of comedy or the absurd, likewise fluff can have heavier moments. View the categories below as best approximate & ask if you need guidance, eg about suitability for younger teens.

We are generally fans of all things Korean, so equally happy to talk about Korean cookery, language, film and music when the mood takes us. Quite a few of us are learning Korean, Japanese and/or Mandarin (some more diligently than others admittedly), so we swap tips and links to language resources. Basically, anything topical goes.

We have a few frequently used acronyms:

FL/2FL = female lead/2nd female lead

ML/2ML = male lead/2nd male lead
🥾🍑 (boot, peach) = kick up the bum to go to bed



We also abbreviate titles if they’re long, but explained or with an obvious abbreviation. Some favourite actors & actresses have been abbreviated for speed/efficiency, eg Park Min Young (PMY), Kim Jae Wook (KJW). Don’t be afraid to ask for help/clues if we’re not making sense or have descended into acronym soup.

I have to say, the Elvish Team Leader seriously turned up the charisma in the coffee house scene. I’m trying to work out whether he has a serious interest in (spoiler swerved) or whether he’s partly trying to make PBY jealous.

Anyway, PBY and SIG are fantastic together. I liked them in the supermarket together and on the subway. I like that her character challenges his and also takes no shit.

Been hectic but have been binging Jasper's dimples in Use For My Talent (C version of Clean with Passion for Now ) and have to say he's definitely smooth like butter 😁 DD has decided to do a Jimin and have multicoloured hair once summer holidays start. He’s 33 currently and PBY is 31. They make a lovely couple, but she brings the magic to every role so who knows.

Is anyone else having trouble casting Viki from their phone? I haven't been able to cast for a few days so having to watch on my phone all the time 🤨

We have the Viki app installed on our AppleTV. I’m permanently logged in on both devices and it will let me browse phone Viki when I watching on the AppleTV box. It’s not at all fussy like that.

I don't have such a fancy TV 😂 we have a chrome cast. DH has been pestering for a new TV for ages, I might have to give all of a sudden 😬

Same Rowdy I use a chromecast to watch Viki on our TV and its not been working v well. Also DH wants a new telly 😁

We don’t have an especially good TV. The AppleTV is a peripheral the lugs into the back of the TV. DH recently told me I should bluetooth pair my airpods with it to give him a break from all the Korean shouting. I can’t remember what I was watching but there was a fair bit of hair-pulling and “YAH!!!”ing.
