I have heard the buzz around the show. is it actually good like early
GOT level or is it just a new thing?

It's nowhere near GOT level imo, the whole series left me feeling like it could have been so much more?. The story is quite good, left open for a 2nd series. Was nice to see a couple of actors I love pop up, like Zoe Wannamaker and Kevin Eldon.
The different names given to all the people with various powers was sometimes hard to keep up with!

I enjoyed it to the point that I've ordered the books but felt I had more questions than answers at the end. Loved the look/feel of it though.

It's alright but I thought I'd like it more.

I thought it would be more GOT-esque but it comes off as quite low budget in my opinion.

It's not bad, just not as good as I thought it would be.

I think the books are a bit more YA.

It's not GOT level. More like The Witcher/A Discovery of Witches type level.
In the absence of GOT, it's a lightweight entertaining watch.

thank you everyone I think I will give it a look.

Definitely not GOT level. GOT starts off as very low fantasy and then it ramps up more and more as we go into later series/books. Shadow and bone starts off with high fantasy and carries on getting more and more of it. I rather enjoyed it.

I enjoyed it. it's very YA but surprisingly engaging.

Me and DH have enjoyed it, him more than me. I feel like the women characters are all quote trope-y if that makes sense and that's been disappointing. It was good to have a lot of women characters but a shame that none of them were particulary creative characters, except possibly Inej. I agree that I felt I had loads of questions whilst watching but I assume everything would be much clearer in the books. Me and DH both want to read the books now and I suspect I will probably enjoy them more. I would recommend it though, worth a watch and entertaining enough.
