Penny Lancaster on loose woman

Does anyone else think Penny Lancaster is totally ridiculous pretending to be a volunteer policewoman, she’s married to a multi millionaire,

Huge mansions here and in America and regular spot on loose woman and now saying she’s a policewoman. I think if she really got caught in any trouble she would run a mile!

What a mean spirited thread. PL is a person in her own right, not just the wife of a pop star. Good on her for pursuing something she believes in and being a positive role model for her children.

I haven’t watched Loose Women for years but I liked Penny on it. Her and Rod seem like a great couple.

I recall reading that putting on a uniform can turn people into power mad jobsworths. Not my wordsSmile

Please dial 999 and report immediately.

I just can't take these women seriously. They are not representative of normal women. They don't have a clue about real life and when they start dishing out advice about nutrition or anything related to ordinary life how can they relate when they don't lead normal lives themselves ?
I used to watch but don't anymore. The only one worth a listen to is Jane Moore.

NiceGerbil · 07/05/2021 02:13

Hmm the uniform thing is interesting.

Maybe as a woman who was a model, so was known for being good looking, and then married a rock star, so was known for being a model who married a rock star and was very rich etc etc

And being at an age where the kids are that bit older, there's less media interest because she's older etc

It might be appealing to put on a uniform that makes you not the one the photographers are after but just one of a bunch of other people in the same garb. A bit of invisibility, and being part of a team not going solo as it were.

And to do something rewarding with that group where you share the same garb and are all on the same team.

I can think why she might like to do that.

I think it's great tbh. Good for her. And a good message for girls etc.

Penny lancaster isn’t “dishing out advice” though. She’s undergone training and passed courses same as any other special constable. They will not be allowing her out on the street if she’s a liability as there’s a real risk someone will get hurt.

As a 6’1 woman, her sheer physicality is a big advantage to the police.

IntermittentParps · 07/05/2021 11:22

Newname12, I came on to say something similar. PL here is not at all comparable to someone who's had a baby and thinks that makes her baby expert number one. She's actually got the credentials.

Also agree with this thread being mean-spirited.

shadypines · 07/05/2021 12:08

You can't pretend to be a police officer, for a start it's illegal. I really admire her for doing something she wants to do and it's a public service. Having worked very closely with the police in a healthcare role it is not a job i would ever want to do in a million years, hats off to her.

That said, beyond telling us she's done the training etc I think she should keep her police job and TV jobs separate and not use it for any anecdotes or anything, the 2 things shouldn't feed off each other, she needs to keep it professional.

shadypines · 07/05/2021 12:13

The only one worth a listen to is Jane Moore have my doubts on this one after listening to her whining about not wanting to wait til 17th May for another lockdown easing. Please, it's two weeks, give it a rest woman, if you can't wait that long to eat out indoors you don't have enough problems, stop whinging.

EachandEveryone · 07/05/2021 13:25

I doubt Penny will beable to discuss anything in public regarding policing

Wow, what a bitchy quote. Kudos to ANYONE who wants to be a special constable. She is doing something worthwhile, which many people (like me) wouldn't want to do. As for your assumption that she would run a mile, what, exactly are you basing that on? She lives an amazing, privileged life, and really doesn't have to volunteer. Clearly you are unable to give someone a bit of credit where its due. Sad.
paniniswapx3 · 07/05/2021 21:38

I think Penny Lancaster comes across brilliantly - she seems very down to earth and family oriented and wants to do her bit for society. I don't see how anyone can knock her at all.

LoopyGremlin · 07/05/2021 21:57

Good for her I say. She’s providing a public service and putting herself in danger to help others. A very positive thing to do IMO and a good role model.

Housewife2010 · 07/05/2021 22:12

I always like Penny Lancaster on Loose Women. She always seems very warm, open and intelligent amongst the fluff of Loose Women. I think it's great that she is working with the police. She obviously doesn't need to and could just enjoy her very privileged lifestyle, but she must feel that she wants to make a difference.

Because of course a woman, and her life choices, are defined solely by her husband’s income.

Take your sneering back to the annals of history where it belongs.

rc22 · 08/05/2021 12:03

I saw the programme where she worked with the police. She did well and seriously seemed to have what it took to a police officer so not surprised to hear she is volunteering as a special constable. I like her but I'm really not a Rod Stewart fan.

In what way do they not have a clue about normal life? They weren't bred in test tubes and trained from birth to be tv presenters. They grew up in normal families, went to schools and college and ended up working in media. They have bills to pay, kids to raise and health issues just like us. Their pets die, their parents age and their cars break down and their boilers bust just like normal boilers. They are as likely as anyone else to lose their job at a moments notice. They earn relatively good money but it's a very insecure life.
bringbacksideburns · 09/05/2021 17:41

Good for her. She seems a decent woman.

At least she's not spending her life on Instagram doing sod all. Clearly she wants to do something useful. Not every rich woman wants to sit on their arse living off their husband.

IntermittentParps · 10/05/2021 09:34

Confusedandshaken, voice of reason, thank you!
I am increasingly tired of people sniping at others who they think have it better than them (not just here, IRL too). It must be so TIRING resenting everyone who you decide is richer/luckier/whatever.
I thought I had a bit of a chip on my shoulder about being working-class (grew up in tacky Barratt houses with no books or 'high' culture of any kind, eating Findus fried things, and went to a sink comprehensive), but honestly, some people!
