What to watch after finishing Desperate Housewives?

Just finished my lockdown binge of Desperate Housewives (about 8 years after everyone else :D) and I’m wondering what to watch next??

I’ve heard the producer who made Desperate Housewives went on to do a series called Devious Maids. I’ve seen mixed reviews, but tempted to give it a go - although I live in the UK and can’t see any streaming services to watch it on.

Any ideas how I can watch Devious Maids, or what else is worth getting into after Desperate Housewives?

Gilmore Girls.
Virgin River.
Dynasty.

Devious Maids was on Disney+.

HRVY · 02/05/2021 23:03

Thanks Rachel and Whatwould! I can’t really justify getting a Disney+ subscription as already have Netflix and Amazon, but will think about getting one later maybe! Thanks for the other series recommendations too :)

We moved on from desperate housewives to Bridgerton and now are watching Unforgotten. What about sex and the city?

GloomyWaters · 03/05/2021 00:08

Virgin River

Why women kill - by the same creator as Desperate Housewives
Ginny & Georgia
Grace & Frankie

Mistresses (UK version - there is a US version as well but I haven’t seen that)

The revamped dynasty on Netflix. So bad and bonkers it's brilliant.

Devious Maids is on Disney+. I tried it and it left me a bit meh. I am rewatching DH and surprised how dated it seems!! Still like it though.

I enjoyed Virgin River but took an ep or 2 for me to get into it.

Different vibe but Handmaid’s Tale? Series 4 should be out soon so can watch the first 3 in the run up 😃

Thanks everyone! Just started watching Emily in Paris and I love it! 😍 I know it’s a guilty pleasure but it’s great 😂

My eyes spent most of the time rolled into the back of my head during the first episode of Emily in Paris Grin but it's such cheesy, cliche, light hearted nonsense and so easy to watch. Nice short episodes you can squeeze into a lunch break and usually cheered me up.

I love Handmaid's Tale but yes it's the antithesis of Emily Grin

Dead to me on Netflix is brilliant. Only two seasons but a third has been announced.

SatsumaFan · 03/05/2021 19:40

Ooh I'd forgotten about Dead to Me. Thanks for the info re S3 Smile

Just thought of another OP may enjoy - The Santa Clarita Diet.

I second Good Girls on Netflix, also The Bold Type (I'm only 1 series is but it's a bit like Ugly Betty meets Sex in City)

I thought Devious Maids was on Amazon prime but not free.

I started a v similar thread after I watched all of DH several months ago and DM was recommended but I don't think i wanted to pay to watch it on top of Now TV, Netflix and Prime.

Cocolapew · 03/05/2021 21:33

Definitely The Good Wife
Big Little Lies, but it's on Now TV

readit · 03/05/2021 22:00

Big Little Lies
Schitts Creek

Why Women Kill, really clever and funny. Same writer I think?

hartof · 03/05/2021 22:19

If you like Emily in Paris, try The Bold Type it's really good. I'm just watching Revenge, never watched it when it was current and I'm really enjoying it.

Cocolapew · 03/05/2021 22:25

Revenge was great, bonkers though Grin
