He’s been fine on the ones I’ve already seen that he’s hosted. And he’s only doing 2 days isn’t he?

In the news today:

Ronan Keating and Jermaine Jenas were announced by the BBC on Thursday as Alex Jones' new co-hosts on The One Show, permanently replacing Matt Baker.

The former Boyzone star, 44, and former footballer, 38, have previously stood in as hosts of the show amongst others following Baker's departure in March 2020.

Ronan and Jermaine will share hosting duties alongside Alex from May 10, with the latter appearing at her side from Monday to Wednesday, and the singer joining her on Thursdays and Fridays.

I prefer Ronan to Jermaine to be honest

He was already hosting a fair bit though, so it’s not massive news.

Anyone but Micheal ball, he makes everything about himself.

At a stroke, making an almost unbearable show completely unwatchable.

Terrible singer; terrible presenter; not much of a human being.

Jenas is ok. Bit of sick note, but a decent player a few years ago. Fairly engaging presenter.

True story about RK ... I was working for a mobile telephone company back in about 1996 - when basically you were locked into 18 month contracts and if you were on a Vodafone business plan you got a whopping 60 minutes free a month included on your plan

Anyway Ronan exceeded his minutes and a block was placed on his phone. He rang up very cross (understandable) and barked to me 'don't you know who I am?!'

So I know exactly what sort of prat he was back then. And yes I had the sense to say ' err no?'

Anyway, he doesn't offend me as a presenter. He's alright for the one show

Jenas has zero personality. He's so dull. I think the whole show has maybe had it's day.

He's awful. The way he treats Harriet on the Magic breakfast show has made me dislike him intensely. He's always putting Harriet down - the kind of stuff MN would advise to report to HR about... Surprisingly he doesn't do it to Alex - yet.

Actually if it means he leaves Harriet's show then yes give him all the jobs in the world. You'd think Disney would pay enough to pay off his debts.

Why wasn't the female footballer given the job - she is fab, as is Rylan. I guess they're too busy with other contracts.

Alex will be on mat leave soon - that's probably why there are two of them.
I like RK, don't know the other guy, but no-one can replace Matt Baker!

how can anyone, and i mean anyone with any brain (irrespective of who they are) really say in this day and age "Don't you know who I am?" in any conversation??

i know nothing about ronan keating, he does not come across very well in the tabloid press but who knows?!

In his defence (and I’m not actually a fan of his in general), if he’s 44 now he was 19 in 1996. So can probably let him off being a bit of a tosser then.

I really like Rylan. If anything I'd say he's too waspish for The One Show, which specialises in gainful employment for the terminally bland. In fairness, RK is very much of a piece with Alex 'Have you ever done a crime?' Jones and utter gawdelpus Matt Baker.
