Gave up half way through. Too slow and boring and didn’t care who they decided to chuck out into space!

PineappleCakes · 28/04/2021 09:11

We watched and enjoyed this. Although irritating that they never addressed how the stowaway was there (why would there be random space big enough for a body?? How was he trapped inside that panel?!?)

Also found it incredible that she would not have tied that cannister to herself, after all the effort they went to Hmm

It was a nice change of pace though from "Away" that we watched which is also mission-to-Mars (series rather than film). That was much faster pace but really frustrating in many ways even though I love Josh Charles in it.

I found it very slow but I enjoyed it for the most part. I wouldn't watch it again.

It was OK, but agree about the lack of explanation over the stowaway's reason for being there.

I thought it was good but I didn't like the way it ended so abruptly. It would have been better to show the aftermath of her dying and them coming back to Earth.

I fell asleep. DH watched to the end. It was ok.

We got bored too and fast forwarded the last bit. Good actors and potential but too much was unexplained and the tempo felt off.

He was drilled in behind the panel wasn't he - why? how? This was brushed over a bit "I lost consciousness and there I was".

Clearly it's not completely our society since I do believe (hope) the response in our society would be to abort mission straight away, not murder the stowaway, and I would have liked this cultural shift to be addressed a bit more.

Turquoisesol · 28/04/2021 09:48

Yes I thought so much wasn’t explained. Was the reason they couldn’t turn back because they were too far now d it was safer to get to Mars than turn back?
It all seemed a bit unbelievable. I kind of wanted someone to find a solution for them in the end too

I can't remember them being really clear about the reason. I also didn't understand why your man's project was ruined - surely an algae is an algae, you can keep some of it behind for regrowing or take new "seedlings" from your crop. But fair enough, that can pass.

HermitsLife · 28/04/2021 12:59

Yeah it was an interesting premise but too much not explained for me to enjoy it. I'm glad people agree though because I thought I was just being dense 😕. And I hate films that just stop without a proper ending.
