Anyone else watching this? I’m about halfway through the series, really enjoying it.

Impressed with RM’s acting, given that she doesn't appear to be ‘trained’, and rather baffled by the noticeably less good acting by the ‘proper’ actor playing the ‘proper actor’ - he’s a charisma vacuum! Confused

I just clicked on to see if there was a thread on this! I thought the same re the acting. They should have made him a model not an actor, he had no personality.

Yes, he’d have been more believable as a model. It’s certainly no chore to look at him, but dear god he’s dull.

He does come across a bit ordinary compared with how Hollywood stars come across on the internet these days... However, I am not sure he is necessarily meant to be a "good" actor! I can think of a few baffingly successful wooden actors.

I came across this last night and have watched it all. I really enjoyed it.

Watched episode 1 last night and really enjoyed it - will be bingeing the rest of it!

franfolly · 27/04/2021 18:31

I've watched 4 episodes and am really enjoying it in a comfortably predictable way and I think Rose Matefeo is really charismatic and great to watch, she reminds me of the broad city girls at times.

But yes he is so wooden and boring! A really bad casting there, I don't really get what she's sees in him, apart from him being mega hot.

GlassBoxSpectacular · 27/04/2021 23:42

I’ve been wondering if he’s deliberately dull and wooden, and the ‘joke’ is that you can make it big in films without charisma or talent as long as you’ve got a stunning face? 🤷‍♀️

Anyone watching season 2? It’s nice and gentle but agree Tom is not great casting. It remains me a little of Miranda and then the Tom family scenes were basically Friday night dinner with the fighting childish brother dynamic , the odd ball dad and overbearing mum.
Also you can tell it’s the middle of summer not Xmas Eve, the woolly hats don’t fool me when the trees are in full leaf Grin

Am watching series 2 but it lacks the charm of the first one.

I love this programme i love them both
She drives me nuts though he is besotted with her for some reason and she's so difficult and mean to him

I'm 2 episodes in to series 2. I want to ditch it but sticking with it, sunken costs or something, I don't know. I think it's massively overrated. She's good, but as other posters said, he's dull as hell. They have no chemistry and I don't believe in them as a couple. I find it only mildly amusing at best

dayswithaY · 19/02/2022 22:23

Had to stop watching as I just don't see them as a couple, really bad casting and the bright sunshine on Christmas Day annoyed me too.

She can be a bit whingey.
