Can't believe the news. My favourite actress. She was also (for me) a brilliant example of a woman who looked fabulous and stylish at any age.

Very sad , I didn't realise she was ill. Brilliant actress.

She was a brilliant actress. I saw her play Medea once and I believed every word she spoke.

Gutted to read this she was an amazing actress love her as Polly in Peaky Blinders

My username is after her character in Penny Dreadful (albeit it's spelled wrong) She was amazing in everything I saw her in. I'm gutted.

She was a fantastic actress and came across as such a fun irreverent woman!
I loved her in Penny Dreadful- not one of her most famous parts but she played the baddie so well.

MadameKali that second season (where she indeed gave good witch) was pure Gothic perfection. Great cast, great story and unbearably sad ending.
She was definitely the highlight- she played her character with such gusto.

For some reason this has made me so sad, despite not knowing her personally. She came across as such an extraordinary woman in her desert island disc interview, and obviously her acting was phenomenal. I also felt theirs was a marriage based on genuine love and respect. Such a great loss but I also keep thinking what a dignified way to handle a terminal diagnosis.

I feel sad. 52 was no age. Such a shame.

She was amazing. Loved her in Medea, The Deep Blue Sea and Quiz. She came across as such a wonderful person on Desert Island discs, and her marriage to Damien Lewis looked so full of love. I'm surprised how much her death has upset me.
