Is anyone else watching this?

I started it last night and I've watched four episodes. It's really good!

Hi @stumbledin are you enjoying it?

stumbledin · 02/04/2021 16:46

No!

LaganinaBubble · 02/04/2021 16:50

I enjoyed it, her childhood in flashbacks is really sad.
I actually laughed a lot watching it too, some real comedy moments alongside the serious.

ElderMillennial · 03/04/2021 09:00

I finished it last night and I really enjoyed it. I wonder whether there will be a second series.

I thought Kaley Cuoco was really good and yes the flashbacks were sad especially the later ones when she started remembering things as they really were and with her brother.

I enjoyed it. I hate anything too violent and gory but I do like a good murder mystery so this was just right for me. I thought it was very Agatha Christie ish.

The theme tune was awful though. It made my head hurt.

HeronLanyon · 06/04/2021 09:00

I binge watched this over the last three days.
I was very mixed.
Around episode 3 I stopped and had a common thought (for me) ‘what is this - is this supposed to be a comedy/fantasy/thriller?’ Then I got over that and watched to the end.
Diverting but not great IMO.

I think however I just don’t enjoy mixed genre stuff so I wasn’t a likely audience.

Thought episode 1 was fantastic but thought it was more real than it turned out to be.

Loved some of the alcoholism portrayals. Really well done I thkight.

Great acting from everyone. In particular Megan - that actress has had such an interesting life. I would watch series 2 simply for her and that story. (If indeed she is in any series 2).

ElderMillennial · 06/04/2021 09:07

I have never read or watched any Agatha Christie but that makes me think I might want to!

Yes I can imagine Megan's character developing in season 2, if there is a season 2

I must say I didn't really pick up on there being a big comedy aspect as many people have commented on. It was just the thriller and the aspect of "what is real and what isn't" that was what kept my attention

I think the acting was good

I like that George O'Malley from Greys Anatomy played her brother (that might be just me as a Greys fan!)

Oh yes - that’s where I recognised him (from). Spag apols.
In fact the characters were remarkably well written and deep and very quickly too for something which had such light moments.

ElderMillennial · 06/04/2021 20:12

Yes I think the characters were good and well casted.

Now looking for something new to watch!

Given the very sad death of Paul Ritter I’ve watched some Friday Night Dinner which I didn’t ever watch first time around. Series 1 has some laugh out loud moments.

ElderMillennial · 06/04/2021 20:18

I haven't seen Friday Night Dinner before either. I will look it up.

Northernsoullover · 06/04/2021 20:21

I binged it and loved it. When the fantasy flashbacks started I thought I was going to hate it because I dislike tv that isn't lifelike but I got used to it. I miss it Sad I love a good binge.

Oblomov21 · 06/04/2021 20:22

I'm unsure. Only watched episode 1, so far. I loved him in GoT.

ElderMillennial · 06/04/2021 20:31

Yeah that's the thing when you finish a series you enjoyed...

Who was in GoT?

OP posts:
LaganinaBubble · 06/04/2021 21:14

Alex was in GoT as Daario Naharis, he had a relationship with Daenerys.

It took me a minute to figure it out, because I thought PP was talking about Paul Ritter (RIP).
Friday Night Dinner is brilliant! Paul Ritter is hilarious as the dad Martin 😆

ElderMillennial · 07/04/2021 10:48

Oh yes, I knew I recognised him but didn't quite put my finger on it.

Yes I didn't know who (or which show!) we were talking about either Smile

stumbledin · 12/05/2021 23:42

I just finished this and thought it didn't really work. Having the parrallel stories of the murder and her facing up to her past.

And the problem is the main character was just so awful. Why would anyone put up with her let alone be a friend. She just used everybody.

I dont care that she was redeemed or whatever it was meant to be. All she had done was damage other peoples lives.

I suppose the only difference is, is that usually it is some awful male self engrossed ego who is the drunk / drug addict who thinks everybody else is just there to be their cheer leader.

I dont want women to only be able to have lead roles so long as those roles are just immitation of male leads!
