Ant and Dec - is it the lack of audience or is it just a bit rubbish?

This has been up Saturday family watch but it's just not working this series. Anyone else feel the same?

OP posts:
GoofyIsACow · 27/03/2021 20:51

We have thoroughly enjoyed every second of this series and laughed til our sides hurt... however, that maddy section tonight was fecking shite!

Whitney168 · 27/03/2021 20:53

Have enjoyed the rest of the series, but it was dire tonight.

desperatehousewife21 · 27/03/2021 20:53

I agree. We don’t watch it live, usually during the day with the kids on Sunday. Have felt this series has REALLY lacked. The end of the show show last week with ‘chums’ Hmm wtf? It was AWFUL, so bad I couldn’t actually be bothered to watch.

The only thing that keeps me coming back each week is Stephen Mulhern- we love him! Grin in for a penny is WAY better.

Standrewsschool · 27/03/2021 21:12

I said the same. The whole show involved giving holidays to people. The Stephen Mulhern dare bit was good, and funny. Also enjoyed Double Trouble. However, the rest was poor. There wasn’t enough content to the show. Ant and Dec did well with the stuff they had to deal with though.

Arrowheart · 27/03/2021 21:18

They look they are trying too hard to be fun. It has been cringeworthy at times.

stevematekatemate · 27/03/2021 23:53

Tonight’s show with Maddy section was terrible. Anyone who purposely damaged clothing to stop a partner going out is abusive. The cat pop pizza was disgusting. I would put money on her being an actress and a poor one at that. She showed no emotion at all. Anyway Twitter has erupted and people are complaining as she got a holiday for it. Awful woman. I am surprised Ross Kemp associated himself with it.

Not the best episode tonight. It’s usually much better.

awww chums was brilliant. It was just like 20 years ago and watching SM TV on a Saturday morning. Fab tv.
purpleme12 · 27/03/2021 23:55

Awww I missed last week's! I loved Chums!
I should go watch last week's now

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 28/03/2021 03:11

Utter dross !

LagneyandCasey · 28/03/2021 13:25

The series started off well but has got progressively worse each week. The Maddy thing was particularly painful to watch, she was totally in on it and didn't come across well at all. Shrinking her husbands favourite football shirt is really nasty. She shouldn't have a holiday for that when there are so many deserving people around. I cry when they give the holidays away to amazing people.

The 'End of the show show' antics are getting beyond cringey.

Stephen Mulhern brightens it up. I'd like to see more of him as Ant & Dec are starting to look bored with each other. Maybe it is the lack of the studio audience. The sound if the people at home and the massive screen is annoying.

'Get out of my ear' 'Ant V Dec' 'Singalong Live' and 'Win the ads' are good but the rest just needs to be buried if they're going to carry on next year.

LagneyandCasey · 28/03/2021 13:28

Oh and they should bring back Little Ant and Dec. It was funny when they interviewed celebs and played jokes on them. My dcs used to love that!

Cherrypie32 · 28/03/2021 16:44

The whole Cat Deely one was very boring. Might have been a laugh for them but the Chums thing meant nothing to kids watching. The book tour pranks weren’t even funny. My kids enjoyed the drive thru coffee shop sketch funny and the Redknapps were ace.

theliverpoolone · 28/03/2021 17:53

My dd leaves me watching on my own now, she's gone right off it. Last night's was poor, that Maddy thing with Ross Kemp was dreadful. It's a shame, some of the stuff they used to do was really funny.

Sparklingbrook · 28/03/2021 18:15

Loved the Chums stuff, the bits where they are in the ear of slebs making them do stuff makes me laugh. Also stuff like the coffee drive through.
I like the Ant v Dec, bit don't like the Double Trouble thing.

I actually wondered at one point last night if the whole of Maddy's family were actors, and it went on far too long.

The winning of holidays in a time where nobody can actually go on holiday makes me a bit 'can i have the money instead?'

I also do not understand what Stephen Mulhern is for.

Sparklingbrook · 28/03/2021 18:17

They are going to need some new ones. Shock Grin

mum2jakie · 28/03/2021 18:20

It's always been pretty shit but watchable. It suffers really badly from the lack of audience at the minute. The virtual audience doesn't add anything. Didn't even bother watching last night's episode.

boomwhacker · 28/03/2021 18:23

We've loved it generally but agree with PPs that the Maddie bit was rubbish

LagneyandCasey · 28/03/2021 19:04

Sparklingbrook They're Big Ant & Dec now Grin

Rillington · 28/03/2021 20:07

We love it as a family. This series has been awful. The Double Trouble thing isn't in least bit funny. The majority of the people winning don't need it. Big flash Range Rovers on the drive. Give the prizes to nurses/keyworkers etc not rich people.

LizzieMacQueen · 29/03/2021 19:39

Aw. I thought the ending, the McFly piece was cleverly done. I'll give them credit for that! And the almost flashing of tits last week. That was funny!!

needadvice54321 · 29/03/2021 19:48

I can tell it's crap this year, DS is normally a huge fan - especially the mini series they run through it (double trouble?), but this year he watched the first one but nothing since

desperatehousewife21 · 29/03/2021 19:55

My point exactly that the only people who enjoyed chums watched it the first time round Grin

We also think they’ve dubbed the laughing etc because it sounds too good for it to be coming from the screens of the virtual audience.

Whitney168 · 03/04/2021 20:53

Right back on form for me tonight! 😍

Roselilly36 · 03/04/2021 20:57

Just so bored with Ant & Dec, gave up on it a few series ago. Can’t believe it’s still on to be honest.

MumofPsuedoAdult · 03/04/2021 21:02

I actually thought that they'd done a good job (under the circumstances) to keep it feeling as normal as possible. Having said that....tonight's episode was rubbish!!
