John Peel programme made me cry

I have just watched a programme on ITV called Coming Home which was all about John Peel returning to his home in Cheshire where he grew up. Alot of family history stuff and talking to camera, really has upset me. Don't normally cry about death so easily but I feel deeply touched and sad for his family and their loss. Just wanted to share really. xx

I missed the ITV programme but heard Home Truths this morning. Cried at the end (very unlike me).

Did you hear that Brian Eno called him 'the midwife of rock'? I thought that was superb. I loved John's work, and will miss him enormously. His appeal to all ages and gentle sense of humour is a huge loss. So sad for his family - he obviously adored them

for the rest of us too; irreplaceable lovely chap.

Missed the TV prog but am still in shock at him going. If I could have picked a dad it would have been him so really feel for his children.

He was a genuine influence on my life, but even so am amazed at just how sad I feel and have felt ever since Wednesday when I heard the news.

for his family and, selfishly, for myself too.

Wanted to add that the Home Truths tribute was very good and moving, esp the end...

binker, thanks for mentioning that; we were away last week so I'd missed it...if anyone else hasn't heard it you can hear it here. Made me cry too. Such a lovely man.
