A dismembered body is found in a scrapyard and the team believes the remains had been stored in a domestic freezer for 30 years. Meanwhile, after making the decision to retire from the police force, Cassie faces a dilemma when she learns she isn't entitled to her full pension payment unless she completes her 30 years of service. I’m late to this, but despite the actress I loathe most in the world being in it, am enjoying it so far

SophieB100 · 06/03/2021 21:12

Nicola Walker is the actress I love most in the world!

I'm really enjoying this series.

stumbledin · 10/03/2021 14:44

I watched the episode moved to last night and although the plot structure is similar to previous series, have to say I thought it was really good.

Find most of the characters convincing and the back stories.

But was a bit suprised that this episode did show the four suspects were connected. Rather than at the stage of suspicions.

Worth the 24 hours wait!

My anticipation for last night's episode was spoilt by some stupid newspaer giving away the plot developments.

But still managed to be quite interesed.

I like that the show the sort of plodding police work that goes on.

But finding some of the suspects now we are getting to know them better a bit of a cliched tick box depiction to make sure the show isn't to locked into one sort of identity.

I thought Cassie might have been off with PTSD which makes a bit more sense than depression, thats why she's the way she is and why she argued with her dad the way she did in the first episode.

I've only seen the first one so I might be wrong and we're told it's depression though.

SimplyMarvellousDarrrrrrling · 17/03/2021 14:43

thank you @stumbledin

Interesting. Its must be hard. In some ways she more at home at work than at home where nobody supports her! But at work they are a team, but the work itself gets to her.

I'm on ep 2. I like Sunny, but am I the only one who thinks NW always plays NW regardless of the role?

Not sure if I'll persist. I enjoyed the previous series, so hope it'll pick up.

stumbledin · 17/03/2021 23:35

Agree re NW!

I dont think I am quite as engrossed this series as before.

And in fact forgot to post about the end of the last episode.

Although it wasn't in fact a shock to me, it was so evident from the way they were filming the car scenes that there was going to be an accident!

Not sure if its just me, but am finding tv series less and less interesting. Only watch to try and give my brain a break. Sad

Am sad tonight is the last episode, but not expecting as much as I would have in the past. Sad

I feel like the change in how Cassie is behaving has ruined the show. I believe it’s been set up from the start that she was going to end up involved in an accident.

stumbledin · 29/03/2021 16:19

I suppose it means she will retire to the country with her partner and leave her father and son to bond over her awfulness!

Maybe Sunny will be the lead in the next series?

Notanotherhun · 29/03/2021 16:22

She's become a bit of a cowbag. She's depressed and stressed. But still a cowbag. She should have just accepted the desk job instead of whining about the 3 months retirement thing.

stumbledin · 30/03/2021 14:07

Oh dear - I thought she was going to be written out of the series, but not in that way. (not helped for me by the spoiler in my listings paper which sort of made it obvious so watched the whole of the last episode knowing how it would end)

I wonder if a bit like Line of Duty there comes a point where you cant keep using the same sort of plot line over and over again and retain high level of interest.

I think as a series it has been really good, but maybe like Cassie herself we should have just said no, times up, I'll quit.

I see there will be a new series. New partner for Sunny, but not clear if he will be head or someone bought in over him.

I wondered if there would be a new series. I’m glad there will be I love these sort of cold case stories.

catlady2021 · 14/05/2021 11:13

I’m so late to everything!..I missed Line Of Duty when that started and binged watched all the series until the last one, that we watched every Sunday.
I also missed Unforgotten when it was on. I’m now binge watching series 1.
I’m enjoying it so far. Quite clever how they integrate all the different characters and link them to the murdered person. Still got the final of series 1 to watch later on.
