To be fair, it sounds as though Ella's actual mum was a complete nightmare. In the true sense of the word rather than the "most of the staff at the Mill" type complete nightmare.

For a foster mum, who's presumably gone through all the training and education, she seems remarkably unaware of safeguarding and putting the children's interests first.

I've just watched the Wednesday wtf episode, presumably introducing us to the new practice nurse as others have mooted.
I noticed in the credits Bharti Patel /Ruhma(she was the voice on the end of the phone ? Roberta, telling nurse to switch it off and on again)
Also Matthew who plays Daniel was credited as Max ( the voice on the phone who told nurse we can't prescribe the "expensive" heart medicine)
Blimey they can't even afford duff voice actors!
Barti/Ruhma was quite good actually
