Anyone else watching/watched this? I've just finished episode 2, without giving anything away, the bit at the end made me hate the person even more. What a fucking twat! (Obv they are a twat anyway, but that was the icing on the cake)

Also, is that a usual way of police cleaning up a crime scene?

By all accounts I have read the police massively screwed up the initial crime scene as the Welsh detective was so convinced it was a murder-suicide.

Athenajm80 · 14/02/2021 21:45

That certainly comes across in the programme.

Yes I've just finished it, normally things like this don't affect me, though obviously I agree they are awful. But this one has really stuck with me

WhoWants2Know · 15/02/2021 22:19

I'm watching it now, and getting more and more angry at the girlfriend who clearly knew something and didn't speak up before the funerals.

Letshavesometea · 16/02/2021 06:34

I agree, I wondered if she ever would have said anything if he had treated her with respect and they stayed together.

OverTheRainbow88 · 16/02/2021 06:37

Also watching this, heart breaking.

ImFree2doasiwant · 17/02/2021 17:42

Is this the one that was on BBC?

CattyCactus · 17/02/2021 17:45

I missed this originally.
What’s it on please?

OverTheRainbow88 · 17/02/2021 17:49

It’s on Netflix at the moment!

Loopyloututu · 17/02/2021 17:50

There was a really good long thread about this when it originally aired last year - it will have “spoilers” though if you don’t already know what happened.

There are still unanswered questions regarding what happened that night but I think a lot of it was kept quiet (maybe evidence was gathered not strictly within protocol to snare him)
Jeremy Bamber is a class A psychopath. I think he’s convinced himself he’s innocent!

Thanks!!

So did the police see movement on the window that night or not?

StephenBelafonte · 25/02/2021 09:01

No. They couldn't have could they 🙁

Mummy195 · 25/02/2021 09:49

Which is what I thought.

But they seemed convinced at the time, Which would match with the hitman theory (though not necessarily the guy who had motive). But the brother could not name the hitman as that would be an admission. After all, while they say he was good with guns, headshots are not easy to execute.

All that being said. The overkill with so many bullet wounds suggest an angry personal murder.

SlummingAngel · 25/02/2021 10:54

Or someone trying to make it look plausible that a mentally ill woman had gone on the rampage with a gun.

medebourne · 25/02/2021 11:06

I have just watched this and thought it was very well made with some excellent performances, especially the girlfriend.

He still in 2021 has a coterie of people around him protesting his innocence. I'm sure they sincerely believe he is innocent, as he believes himself to be too. It's chilling.

Yes, that too.

Another thing is I never followed the case, and only watched this when it first aired on Netflix. So, I know I sounded silly asking about the movement through the window, but the details are a bit vague now. With regards to the phone call he was supposed to have received. But I thought he looked smug enough to believe he is more clever than everyone. So would hire someone who would not be linked to him and plan a way to pay without it being traced, then he would have no physical evidence on him either.

I just finished this last night. It was good, really interesting story, well acted etc, but it was at least 1-2 episodes too long I thought. The story seemed to move at snails pace at times, with a lot of filler.

I might try to find the other thread though as it is an interesting story.

the80sweregreat · 27/02/2021 22:36

I can't get over that Julie Mugford only really came forwards properly because he was going to dump her and even sold her story afterwards,. She allowed the bodies to be cremated knowing there was doubt about what happened.
Such a sad sad story :(
Five people died in such awful circumstances.
I vaguely recall this on the news but I was only young at the time and didn't take much notice of the news.
Good acting and the incompetent police ( some of them) was breathtaking too.

Yeah she was OK to continue with the lie if she was benefitting from it. When it became clear she wouldnt, she ratted him out. And then sold her story because she was 'owed' it (whether that happened or not who knows, but she certainly comes across as being in it for the money).
EdgedInBlue · 11/03/2021 16:13

Not only did she go to the press, she posed for "sexy" photos for them.

Just binged the first three episodes - really interesting. I remember the case from when I was a child, so knew vaguely what happened & who did it, but not the detail.
The police incompetence & arrogance is breathtaking though! No gloves, no searching the house, no immediate suspicion of the person who stood to gain the most from it.

Strong showing from GoT - Theon & Yara back together again! Grin
