DH and i watched this and thought it was brilliant.... esp as British Muslims oursleves and sparked some interesting conversation between us.

And I knew his sister wasnt dead.... I kept wondering why they chose to make the brother the "Brit" - it all makes sense now.

Cant wait till tonihgt, think they have done a really good job.

excellent show!!!

just hope it doesn't get too far fetched and spoil the end.

So what you think of ending????

expatinscotland · 02/11/2007 00:15

tell me the end!

put a spoiler warning.

I missed it and I want to know when it's repeated because I really wanted to see it and forgot to set sky+ [grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr]

I really enjoyed the second episode. I think they dealt with it all so well when it could have gone so wrong if they tackled it the wrong way.

Wont spoil it for MarsLady, sorry expat

I didn't quite find ths sister believable. I'm not sure why. I think it was a big leap for her. Her friend would have been a better candidate I think.

Finona · 03/11/2007 22:46

Having watched both episodes, I found it one of the most powerful pieces of drama I've watched in a long time - I thought I was quite politically aware, but learned things (i.e. about control orders) that I wasn't aware of. I'd be really interested to know what Muslim viewers felt about the programme and how 'realistic' they feel the idealogical journey of some of the characters was.

I only watched Part 2 and found it very compelling and I'm assuming a lot of research was done eg into the training camp etc. I have to say though that I'm glad it showed clearly that suicide bombers act for political rather than religious reasons.

It was one of the best things I have seen in ages - great story, brilliant acting and portrayed M15 far more realistically than that ridiculous Spooks programme! Also like Finona I learnt things I didn't know eg about control orders. It has certainly made me want to find out more.

I thought it was really powerful TV, I only saw part of the first episode and the second but it really made me think.
At first I didn't think the sister was a plausible candidate but I thought the journey she took was brilliantly done and really showed how she got to where she did.
Also thought the ending was well thought out and, sadly, probably an accurate portrayal (don't want to say anymore to spoil it for anyone who has yet to see the ending but hopefully those who did see it will know what I am talking about!)
