Anyone started this? Thoughts? I'm just 15 mins in and I can't stop thinking of Tully as Samantha from Suits - have a feeling it's going to be a little stereotypical but quite fun.

I absolutely love it. A lot deeper than I expected, almost didn't bother with it but so glad I did. Not seen Suits but I think Tully has a SatC Samantha Jones air about her.

I gave up watching after about 5 episodes. I think Tully comes across as a real bitch regardless of her background. Plus the story got a bit boring.

I had to stop watching it as the 40-year-old leads playing themselves as 20-somethings with a weird filter over their faces was distracting. Why didn’t the teenagers playing them as teenagers play the 20-somethings?

Omg I've just finished this. Honestly don't bother. Starts off ok then just gets slower and slower. I fast forwarded the last two episodes and the ending is a ridiculously boring cliff hanger.

Probably the sex scenes. There’s not many and they are not overly graphic. But I think most 15 yr olds would cringe inside out watching them with their parents!

I watched the whole lot. It’s very Beaches but watchable. I do agree that Kate in particular didn’t look 20-something in the 1980s sections. It was the arms....

There were some sex scenes but nothing hideously embarrassing to watch with an older teen. I wouldn’t have watched with my mum, though... she even refused to watch nature programmes Grin

To me Tully was Izzy from Greys mixed with a slight bit of Samantha from SATC.

I’m definitely more of a Kate.

I'm guessing the drug use might be the reason for the 18 cert but I have seen tons more dark 15 certs than this. Overall, Im liking it more than I ever thought I would and the music is delightful.

I binged it too. I was about to give up half-way but found the later episodes better, characters became more rounded & I liked it a lot more. Kate is a great character & Tully became more rounded.

Agree re the 80s scenes, they're daft & the filter is plain weird. For the believability of the characters I don't think the actors playing the teenage characters could have played them though.

I quite liked it - I did feel like the structure was a bit of a This is Us ripoff, but actually I think the book it’s based on has sections set when they’re in their teens too.

I don’t think they could really have aged up the teen actors to be them in their 20s as audiences will accept a change in appearance from teen to adult a lot more easily than from adult to older adult. Also they’d have had to recast Johnny too as it would have been weird to have the same actor getting together with the teen actresses.

I enjoyed it but really want to know what Tully did! I'm not a Katherine Heigl fan but she didn't put me off and thought she was good in this as none of the characters are particularly likeable.

I know what she did in the book from threads on Reddit but I'm not sure if they'd go the same route for the series.

I quite like it, it’s nice mindless viewing but as with most older women characters these days, Tully’s ridiculously puffed up face is so off putting! It’s such a shame that older actresses feel the need to do this as their faces become all you can think about. Sarah Chalke doesn’t seem to have done the same though, which is refreshing.

I enjoyed it overall. Found it a little bit boring in the middle and almost didn't finish it. But glad I did as it got better.

That said, really didn't like Tully's adult character at all. Loved Kate, esp 80s Kate. Didn't even notice that they used filters if I'm honest! Cloud irritated the hell out of me.

I'm intrigued enough to watch the 2nd season if that goes ahead.
