Apologies if this was asked before but I ended up watching these in reveres

Apologies but I asked these in reverese order. America series 1 first and UK series 1 next. Their success is to capture genuine people but I have to ask the qaestion between both because I have alcohol misuse disorder -did anyone notice the complete lack of alcohol in the US version compared to the UK version? As a person wishing that alcohol didn't exist(due to having a problem with it), I found it bizarrare that players in the circle UK woke up with hangovers and in the US did not. Maybe I missed something...

Interesting - did they really not have alcohol in the US series!?

I've watched both U.K. seasons and the one US season, and completely loved them all. (Though I would question the actual American-ness of the last. Tbh they seemed like American actors/would be actors holed up somewhere in Salford ...)

I really didn't notice an absence of alcohol. Are you sure? I'd certainly say alcohol added to the jollity of the U.K. seasons - watching English people discover free drink is wonderfully entertaining and rather sweet.

There is a different culture in the US with regards drinking. Very very different to the UK.

Agree with PP, I think the relationship with alcohol is different so probably why it’s not so obvious on the US version

America is very different! I remember on a long visit they were all shocked that I had whisky to drink and share - but they all spoke openly about taking (I can't even remember what) 'soft' drugs, while my face was like .

The Circle has provided me with possibly more intense lockdown entertainment than absolutely anything else.

IIRC there was alcohol on the US version, I'm sure Shooby mentioned enjoying Prosecco they had been given. Agree with others though, there's definitely a difference in attitudes towards alcohol between UK and the US.
