Maked singer thread 3

Hi folks. New thread for next week.

We plus the masked singer so we can fast forward through the adverts. Just had a google at the clues for the remaining acts. On one website they have the clues and popular guesses. It did make me laugh that apparently one of the popular guesses for robin was Joe Swash. That would be funny if both Stacey and Joe were doing it, but neither knew haha.

FWIW I think that Robin is Aston and sausage is more likely to be Sheridan. I think the singing voice is too good to be Stacey. While she is a good singer, I think Sheridan has the more theatrical voice like sausage had. I did guess Natalie Cassidy earlier on too for sausage.

Right going back to look at clues and do a bit of research.

Knew Lennny Henry straight away and DH was convinced Sausage was Martine until of course she was revealed as swan.

Can't see this has been mentioned however the playing cards that Harlequin was holding spelt out A MOBO.

Robin has to be Taron Egerton!
Rocky robin- robin hood
Mentor with the glasses- Elton John
The crown- kingsmen
And he can sing.

I thought Robins glasses being that shape were a nod to ' Stars in your Eyes' ie Aston Merrygold

I assumed the glasses were Stars in Their Eyes clue - plus the boyband screaming clue points to a boybander.

Just read that Nicky Byrne posted something about a robin in his instagram but I presume that is tongue in cheek as some of the clues point towards him. Still sure it is Aston though!

One of the Harlequin clues was that her story joined up with another story. Out of Reach was in the Bridget Jones film.

So my guesses (although pretty sure about them all) are:
Sausage-Joss Stone. Thought this from the start. 'Performance is a balancing act' related to her tour being carbon balanced. Meat free zone-she is a vegetarian. Dover sole-from Dover. Two pints of lager and a packet of crisps- her song was played in the show. Sarongs-used to wear them over trousers. Joss sticks. Has a song called Young at heart.
Badger-Ne-yo. Virtual Reality-relates to Neo in the Matrix. Barbra-did a tribute to Barbra Streisand. Coding-has opened a Coding School. Lucky Charms-Has a song called Superstitious. Sang Because of you-name of his album. Likes to wear hats.
Dragon-Sue Perkins. Talked about conducting-won the show Maestro. Pie on the windowsill-Bake off. Talked about desert island- was on Desert Island Discs. Travelled to Japan. Also sounds like her.
Harlequin-Gabrielle. Dropped fan-Out of Reach. Talked about patch. Up before the sun-Rise. Also sounds like her.
Robin-Aston Merrygold. Played football. Supports Arsenal. Sang Rockin Robin on Stars in their eyes. In a boyband. Did a song called 3D and a 3D film.

I got Lenny and Morten Harket a few weeks ago too. Gutted MH has gone. Although his acoustic version of Take on Me last week prompted me to buy the Summer Solstice album!

Sausage is Joss Stone in my opinion.

It doesn’t sound like Sheridan - there is a YouTube video of Sheridan singing I Am Telling You and it sounds nothing at all like Sausage. Couldn’t find Stacey singing any of the specific songs but cannot hear her voice in there either.

Meanwhile a lot of clues work for Joss - all the horse stuff, camper van, DIY, balance - no shoes when she performs, face hidden - Eragon, “meat free zone” in VT - she’s veggie, began on a talent show, most recently the joss sticks...thinks there’s a lot of consistency.

But mostly it sounds like her voice!

If any Morten fans haven't seen this very Mumsnetty clip before, they might just swoon a little objectively admire its artistic credibility.

My take:
Harlequin- Gabrielle. She has so distinctive voice and also touched her eye.
Badger- Ne-Yo - he wears a LOT of hats, hence the milliner reference, also his voice it’s obvious, I like NE-Yo.
Sausage- I think Sheridan but not sure.But I don’t think Stacy S has that powerful voice as Sausage has.
Robin- Aston Marrigold possibly.
Dragon- idk. No clue.

I feel irrationally stressed about how I really don’t think Sausage can be Sheridan smith or Stacey Solomon yet people seem convinced it is! No idea why I’m so bothered haha!

Fab clip Webuilt, ta - v enjoyed it. Has Morten had a hair transplant? Perhaps not so hairy viking. Still, looking good at 61.

I've just had a couple of tabs open on youtube. I'm convinced that Badger is Ne-Yo after listening to them both.

Sausage I compared with Sheridan Smith, Stacey Soloman and Joss Stone and really don't know although I am now tempted to go for Joss Stone, but why would a vegetarian dress up as a sausage? So I also compared with Natalie Casey (who was also in 2 pints) and that also sounds similar. So I'm torn here.

Dragon I have no idea. Listened to Courtney Act, but it doesn't sound the same. Also the site I was looking at suggested Michelle Visage. Again two different sounds. I really don't know.

Robin and Harlequin I've not listened to mainly because I'm already convinced that they are Aston and Gabrielle respectively.

I very much doubt she would go “Hey you caught me! Of course I was sausage all along”

Ok so I also wondered about Joss Stone and the meat thing but in one the VTs I think it said “meat free zone” and at some point she tries to stop the agent people eating sausages so feel like that covers it. Plus sausages can be veggie!

Also the Lisa Stansfield Been Around The World - in 2020 Joss finished up a world tour where she went even to North Korea and I think she got arrested in Syria or something. She was presented a Brit Award by Lisa Stansfield and they share a birthday.

This kind of programme, whilst great entertainment, is simultaneously particularly irritating to those of us who, even when seeing an actor/performer/presenter's actual face on TV, still agonise over what s/he's been in before

I bet some of the less household name celebrities go through at least a brief moment of real panic at the unveiling that the panel will shout "Who are you?!?!" - and then they remove the mask, and the the panel will shout "Who are you?!?!"

Well, if it was performed and filmed in September, then, strictly speaking, neither she nor anybody else IS Sausage - it was just a role that somebody played but it isn't actually them.

Like trying to force David Tennant to either admit or deny that HE IS Dennis Nilsen!

DS1 told me that Joel was on one of the football programmes and said that he hadn't a clue who the politician was when he was unmasked but said "Oh it's you!" (Alan Johnson I think he meant)

Perhaps an alien concept for a chronic oversharer like Stacey Solomon though

I clearly remember Jason Manford posting on social media asking if anyone remembered hedgehog flavoured crisps - it was really early on in series 1 and not even sure his name had been floated at that point - it's all part of the game I guess so I would take Stacey Solomon's postings with a pinch of salt!
