Someone on here suggested the German series called Dark but I can't find the thread again.

We binged all 3 series over a week. It was so good so thanks to whoever suggested it.

Really got me, dh and ds17 thinking and working it all out as we went along.

I can really recommend it if you like post apocalyptic type stuff.

Try 'The Rain'! Similar vibe.

Breathmiller · 23/01/2021 19:15

Oh yes. We watched the first series of The Rain and liked it too. Has there been a second series?

Three in total! And it resolves itself in the final one fortunately.

Loved it, quite confusing though and had too look up the character map online to keep up with it. Just when I thought I knew who was who the next series complicated things to a whole new level! Worth the effort though!

Too creepy with the burnt out eyes 😳

Three?! Haha. We are well behind the times. I think we will watch that next. Thanks

We were determined not to look things up. Sometimes we spoke through it all trying to work it out. We would have to reign each other in so we could hear the next bit. It was so satisfying and hard work figuring it. But you're right, worth it

Yes, it lived up to it's name fairly often

Dark is one of my favourite things on Netflix! I agree you have to give it your full attention to know what's going on, especially as it gets further on.

*Rein not reign

I've just started watching this. I agree, it's not something you can mindlessly watch whilst playing on your phone etc, or you'll get lost pretty easily

I'm liking it so far, I'm only on episode 6 of season 1. Without any spoilers I hope, I worked out one of the characters pretty early on, probably about 3 episodes in, but now I'm confused again lol, think it's because there's quite a few people you need to keep up with. Going to try and watch more of it today. I really like the music in it as well

Breathmiller · 25/01/2021 13:44

Haha! Yeah, we found that happened. We would get a eureka moment about who someone was then two minutes later we would be confused in a whole new way.

I loved it too - one of my favourites on Netflix. DH enjoyed series 1&2 but thought series 3 was the writer's purposely trying to mess with his head! Had to look at the family tree at the end to make sure I'd understood it all.

DieSchottin93 · 20/02/2021 10:50

Dark is one of my favourite series. I thought the casting of the characters was amazing, I couldn't believe some of them weren't actually resulted in real life Shock (some of them are though Grin ) and the attention to detail is incredible.

DieSchottin93 · 20/02/2021 10:50

Ugh that should say related not resulted Hmm

JumpLeadsForTwo · 20/02/2021 19:07

Who were related @DieSchottin93 ?

constantly · 20/02/2021 19:08

It was wonderful

DieSchottin93 · 20/02/2021 19:27

@JumpLeadsForTwo in series 3: the adult and the old Origin are real life father and son (Jakob and Hans Diehl) as are adult Peter and teenage Peter (Stephan Kampwirth and Pablo Striebeck) Smile

JumpLeadsForTwo · 20/02/2021 19:33

Ahh- thanks!

SPOILER ALERT
DH and I finished it a few weeks ago and I still feel bereft! We carefully rationed and watched one episode a week because we were enjoying it so much we wanted it to last. I was worried the writers wouldn’t be able to tie everything up in the end (still not over the disappointment of the Lost ending, 10 years later Grin) but I thought it was perfect. When Jonas / Adam said their final “we are a perfect match” to Martha / Eva I might have shed a tear.

I also thought whoever did the casting must have had so much fun matching up teenage and adult versions of all the characters. And grownup Jonas was hot.
