I'm murder documentary mad!
What's some of your favourites?

OP posts:

@shazzamumma I think the judge was referring to what a waste it was he choose the vile path he went down. And how instead he was charming and could of been a brilliant lawyer. I think the judge was manipulated at all by him.

Krazynights34 · 25/01/2021 11:20

Ive just watched Accused:A Mother on Trial - very disturbing.
Of course Making a Murderer, The Staircase, American Monster, early Homicide Hunter (a series), American Murder, Long Shot, Keepers,
Wild Wild Country, any of the Jon Benet ones, Evil Genius.

DamsonBramble · 25/01/2021 11:26

Catching a Killer - Diary from beyond the grave was excellent but extremely sad with the trickery and gas lighting
www.channel4.com/programmes/catching-a-killer/episode-guide/
Agree the Keepers was excellent but again very sad and harrowing

OwlLovesTea · 25/01/2021 17:17

@felineflutter

Yes *@OwlLovesTea*
Im two episodes in and I know what Im doing later! Thanks for recommendation.

I love true things best.

I watched the matt orchard interview with justin ross harris who accidentally on purpose left his baby in a car all day. Words would fail you. Glad he is behind bars

Adelais · 30/01/2021 21:26

The one on Netflix about Shannan Watts, was it American murder?

Mommy dead and dearest, I think it’s on sky crime.

Literallynoidea · 07/02/2021 00:24

We just watched The Ripper which is gripping my and only four episodes.

Literallynoidea · 07/02/2021 00:26

Also The Investigation- a Danish one about the poor journalist murdered on a submarine.

Nellle · 07/02/2021 00:48

The Jinx.

Brilliant and has the most jaw-dropping ending of any true crime series, surely.

Neoncoral · 07/02/2021 18:02

@Nellle

The Jinx.

Brilliant and has the most jaw-dropping ending of any true crime series, surely.

The Jinx was absolutely jaw dropping, you are right!
WildImaginings · 07/02/2021 18:08

Another vote for The Keepers.

Probably the best documentary I've watched recently was 'I'll be gone in the dark' - so good I ordered the book straight after watching. Unfortunately it's now been taken off nowtv/sky catch up (I wanted to watch again!) and it doesn't appear to have been added to any streaming services yet.
Keep your eye out for it though!

DragonPoop · 07/02/2021 18:09

The keepers on Netflix!

NorbertMeubles · 11/02/2021 17:12

The staircase

Whirlwind14 · 12/02/2021 16:46

The Staircase on Netflix- even with a sleep adverse toddler I’ve stayed til silly o’clock watching it!

Brot64 · 12/02/2021 18:12

Following for ideas, though have watched all these except the Irish one posted above which I will start shortly. Finished the Act on Amazon, made into a mini series and really good. I am also trying out discovery plus (free trial) and they are so many crime documentaries and series on there in case anyone is interested.

OhWhyNot · 12/02/2021 22:13

The Disappearance of Susan Cox Powell It’s disturbing and terribly sad (I think it was on one of those Prime sights you pay extra for) the damage down by one man on a whole family is terrible

Ted Bundy you couldn’t make it up grotesque and fascinating. There is a series about the women in his life and how his crimes impacted women it’s really sad unfortunately some people are so disturbingly fascinating to us the people’s lives who are destroyed and changed for the worse are overlooked

I recently watched The Nightstalker I found this very disturbing I struggled to get the series out of my mind

AlinaSquareQueen · 13/02/2021 18:37

I’m a True Crime documentary fanatic and have watched most things mentioned on here. Some of my favourites are:

I Love You, Now Die
Making a Murderer
Paradise Lost trilogy
Mommy Dead and Dearest

SinkGirl · 13/02/2021 19:13

If you can get it, The Jinx (HBO). Possibly the best documentary series I’ve ever seen. Also a good comparison to Making A Murderer / The Staircase (both amazing) to see how the American justice system works for those with money and those without.

Logmein · 13/02/2021 19:36

Second I'll be gone in the dark it is really good.
The new ones ( all different) on Netflix/ Amazon and I think discovery+ about the Cecil hotel are a good watch.

31RooCambon · 14/02/2021 16:34

Im watching the story of jeremy bamber murdering his family on netflix now. "The White House"

waltzingparrot · 14/02/2021 16:59

Who killed Little Gregory? on Netflix. Lots of twists and turns.

31RooCambon · 14/02/2021 22:26

Well, I binge watched White House Farm on Netflix and it was really excellent.

Most binge-able thing I've watched in months.

31RooCambon · 18/02/2021 17:25

So how did you watch The Investigation @Literallynoidea ?
That one looks so good.
I remember reading about that.
So glad they went all out to find the evidence to prove his guilt beyond reasonable doubt

Chocsmyfav · 21/02/2021 23:16

Abducted in plane sight
Keepers
A programme about the Mike Philphot
The jinx
The unibomber
Mcmillions
Evil genius

TheresAnEyeInMeSoup · 27/02/2021 23:12

I recently watched The Nightstalker I found this very disturbing I struggled to get the series out of my mind

I have watched one episode and haven't had a proper nights sleep all week! The things that monster did, I hope he rots in hell. I've been reading a lot about him as I cannot get what he has done out of my mind. Can't bring myself to watch the rest of the night stalker though

tadpole73 · 01/03/2021 09:40

Recommend Staircase & Unibomber
