A Discovery Of Witches- help!

I've been looking forward to season two of ADOW having enjoyed season one. And because I enjoyed it I could remember it well and didn't need to watch a rerun. Or so I thought...

I have no idea what's happening in season two! Pretty please can someone remind me of the twisting plots in season 1 - my sky subscription won't let me download it for a binge and I'm now too late to record. HELP!

Just started 2. 1 ended where they time warped into the past to try and give Diana time to get control of her powers and to try and get more information about the book of life. Her aunties are living with Matthew's mother to keep safe and pretty much everybody is trying to find her.

Matthew and Diana have travelled back in time to try and find the book and get her a teacher.

Marcus is now in charge of the knights of Lazarus and trying to keep Sophie and Nat (the demons who are waiting for baby) safe from the congregation, along with Nat's mum who is the demon in the council.

Baldwin is trying to keep Matthew safe and keep a hold of the congregation and Peter Knox and Gerbert are trying to find Matthew and Diana before they find the book.

Diana's aunts are at the castle in France with Matthew's mum.

Think that covers it Wink

Baldwin is matthews 'brother', he's phillipes vampire son. He's part of the creature council

Hope you don't mind me jumping in and asking what exactly a demon is? They just seem like normal humans with a tendency to have mental health issues (also like humans).

Thank you! I'm sure I will have more questions... actually I do! What was the deal with the wild witch? I think she set a fire at one point? Good at killing hut I can't remember why!

A recap about the book;

In modern times Diana checked the book (can’t remember the name) out of the uni library. It had been hidden by magic for centuries. It has a couple of pages missing. She got burned by it and freaked out and returned it.

After that word spread that she’d found it. Soon everyone was hanging around the library in the hope she’d take it out again and they could see it it get it from her for themselves.

It goes back to old magic times and the witches want to get it so they can destroy the demons or vampires (I forget which) so that’s why people are chasing Diana, because she could get the book out so they can take it from her and use the old magic for their own gain.

Some even think she still has the book as the library staff can’t find it again.

So because the witches are after her, she and whatshisface her vampire boyfriend have timetravelled back to hide from everyone and to find the book back on those times when the original pages will be intact.

Forgot to say, nobody else has been able to get through the magic that hides the book on the uni. Except her. So they can’t just stroll down themselves to withdraw it. They’ve all tried for years and failed. She is the only one the book comes to.

4 types of people
humans - who mostly don't know about the others
vampires - very long lived, drink blood. Vampires can create other vampires by biting but can't have babies
witches - spells etc. have babies normally - most of whom will also be witches
daemons - very creative but prone to mental illness. Humans can have daemons babies and this helps to cause their mental instability

no one knows why but creatures are dying out. Matthew and others think the Book of Life will provide the answer and solution as to why.

Diana is a witch who has ignored her witch heritage and at the beginning can't do spells deliberately - sometimes it just happens. She can't control it. Her parents were very powerful witches who foresaw she would be even more powerful so they bound her magic. The parents were killed by others witches (inc Knox) trying to find out their secrets. Meeting Matthew has triggered her magic to happen more

There's a cross creature council that enables a tense truce between the species (except human). It forbids relationships between the species. That's why Matthew and Diana shouldn't be an item

I seem to remember biting doesn't always work? Matthew's son(?) tried and failed to turn a friend after he was hit by the car.

Vampires are failing to sire for various reasons. There is a lot that gets brushed over in the series that's in the books.
