I've just finished watching this... I'm not sure what to make of it, initially I thought he was innocent, then reading some articles online I changed my mind, now I've read the owl theory and that sounds plausible too...
I don't think he came across well, he didn't seem like a nice man, I can't quite put my finger on it but he gave me the creeps

Guilty as hell
Found it fascinating.
Watched it a few years back.
Absolute psycho

CrystalMaisie · 19/01/2021 15:36

Very guilty. I watched a few body language expert’s videos on you tube which confirmed what I thought.

AmandaHoldensLips · 19/01/2021 15:38

Guilty AF.

SavoyCabbage · 19/01/2021 15:38

I rewatched it in the first lockdown. Why did you think he was innocent?

I thought he was as guilty as sin and that's after watching something that was completely made from his perspective!

Those girls were like downtrodden robots.

DangerousMouse · 19/01/2021 16:15

The way he came across made me think he was guilty but all that blood splatter stuff and the coughing splatter made it seem like he wasn't... I'm gonna check out some YouTube videos on this later!

Yeah he was very weird towards the girls, that seems a very strange relationship

We’re a couple of episodes from the end. It’s riveting. I was convinced of his guilt from the start, he gives me the absolute creeps. As did the children. Grief does weird things to people but they seemed so unmoved by her death! All the giggling, just weird and awful.

I don’t have a clue how it’ll end but not worried about spoilers.

And what the hell was going on with his first wife? They glossed over so much background. She was at the birth of at least one of the girls, they adopted them when Liz died. He left Germany and all 4 kids with patty, met Kathleen and the kids all gradually joined them? Where was patty?! Why didn’t they refer to their own mum as mum? What did she think of Kathleen? What role did she play once Kathleen was dead?

So much weirdness.

AnneLovesGilbert · 19/01/2021 16:21

And the female prospecutor Shock

Looked her up last night. Bloody hell.

AnneLovesGilbert · 19/01/2021 16:21

Prosecutor

BikeRunSki · 19/01/2021 16:21

This sounds interesting

What platform ?

AnneLovesGilbert · 19/01/2021 16:21

Netflix

TheYearOfSmallThings · 19/01/2021 16:22

Guilty. I can't imagine how anyone could think otherwise.

DangerousMouse · 19/01/2021 16:31

Yes I'm quite slow with this type of thing! The laughing was awful, between him and the guy who was working with him. At the end when speaking to a daughter talking about being free he said something like - unless I do another murder.. who could talk like that?!!

OP posts:
DangerousMouse · 19/01/2021 16:54

Ooh the prosecutor died

Im addicted to this case, have been for years and I go back and forth on guilty or not...

But do you know what sticks with me?

The poster of a black cat that was on the wall at the bottom of the stairs when they found Kathleen? It was on the wall at the bottom of the stairs at the "accident" in Germany too...

I don't know why I keep looping back to it but, I do...

Lexilooo · 19/01/2021 21:53

The picture is the "Le Chat Noir" poster it is really famous and very common. In Paris copies are sold in every souvenir place as posters, fridge magnets, mugs, bags, the lot. It doesn't surprise me to see it anywhere, it is pretty ubiquitous.

Inkpaperstars · 20/01/2021 14:23

The Real Crime Profile podcast has some interesting episodes on this programme/case iirc.

AnneLovesGilbert · 20/01/2021 14:38

Finished it last night. Still musing.

Why did the daughters have matching green hair at the end?

CSIblonde · 20/01/2021 19:13

The US docs on it all point out he'd lied about his army background, hadn't written a book in 12 years & at the time, they were months away from being bankrupt. He'd also viewed gay porn on his computer & was having regular male hook ups & he claimed his wife knew about both. All her friends dispute this. Two wives dying in a fall? Humans are predictable, they have routines & patterns of behaviour. Once is happenstance, twice is a pattern.

First woman wasn't a wife, family friend I believe. But yes, I don't think it's coincidence
AnneLovesGilbert · 21/01/2021 10:09

The daughters do look a bit like him and his brother so I’ve got time for the idea he was their dad...

IndigoSkye · 21/01/2021 21:52

I listened to a podcast on it before I saw the documentary which was quite interesting, it was called Beyond Reasonable Doubt from BBC 5 live podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/beyond-reasonable-doubt-preview-1/id1242326664?i=1000385953287 was really interesting

HollowTalk · 21/01/2021 21:56

I really loved this - it drove me mad, mind.

I think what happened with the second wife is that she went in from the pool before he did. She went upstairs to their computer and opened the email - which was verified by her workplace. Then she saw the gay hook ups on the computer. Big fight and he killed her.

She died when she thought she might be made redundant. If she died while employed then there was a big insurance payout. I don't think that was a coincidence, given his huge financial problems.
