I think they can only miss one show before defaulting. If self isolation period runs over two weekends or significantly reduces practice and rehearsal time in the days prior they can't continue.

Oh yes I'm forgetting how close to the weekend we are. Plus I suppose there is also the possibility they aren't actually well.

To be fair to DOI, the average population infection rate during their recording period has been far higher than Strictly had to contend with, so it’s not just their fault.

OTOH I think they’ve taken a more gung ho “close contact for work purposes” approach which meant that both halves of a couple could stay with their families, rather than taking a “bubble” approach like Strictly where one half of each couple had to be living on their own, and statistically that has to increase your risk of getting couples eliminated.

I wonder if it is a plucky cunning plan?

Get rid of all the contestants, rope in all of Diverseetee, shove them in lycra and skates and instead of Bolero, create an interpretive dance telling all of the year the Covid killed dancing on ice.

I couldn't get a test back in March but most likely had Covid then and from my experience I'd say anyone who has Covid should commit to resting for a couple of weeks after they recover. Not get straight back into what is a very physically intensive sport. I got too physical too soon and developed a range of post-viral problems in my chest and ended up needing phenomenal amounts of bedrest for the following 3 months.

A gentle walk was too much for me a lot of days, skating was out of the question. By July I could get back to skating but still had inflammation and weakness in my chest. I couldn't even manage to control a 3-turn until well into August. Up until about September I had too much pain whenever I attempted a jump. Controlling my body enough for a spin was impossible because my core had weakened from all the time in bed. Even skating up from a low shoot the duck position would cause me pain so much at times that I would occasionally have to pack up and go home. It took until the October/November lockdown for that inflammation to ease back enough for me to feel like I was back at my previous skill level by December. I'd gained weight and lost muscle and just didn't have the same stamina or fitness that I did in early March.

Skating is my hobby and feeling unable to do as well as I could was frustrating and a little upsetting. For someone like Vanessa Bauer, skating is her livelihood. She needs to be extremely fit and healthy to work. Her level of skating requires her to do complex moves that a slight weakness in her body could make impossible. It would be a massive mistake for her to be trying to rush back onto the show if she is also infected. If she gets the virus, being able to rest and knowing she's out of the show, while disappointing, would be the best thing for her future.

The winner will end up being the only person left!

It's beginning to look like that! And they can have a skate off against themselves!

It would be rather sad to win because you are the only one who hasn't succumbed to disease or injury.

I wonder if the 'celebs' want to disassociate themselves from the toxic shenanigans and get out before the shit hits the fan, so are contriving to contract Covid or injuries. Truly a very strange series. Or maybe I have too much time on my hands.

That’s an interesting theory.

Reading about this series is more interesting than watching it.

Should we start taking bets on who is forced to leave next?
