Can someone help me understand Fortitude?

So I am binge watching it and watched series 1 and just started series 2. I’m confused. How much time is meant to have passed between the 2 series? Series 1 ended up with them shutting down and grounding flights etc and burning the mammoth.... but series 2 has a load of new people and people have disappeared and no talk of the mammoth?

Where has the blond police man gone? And the Spanish lady who he loves? He didn’t kill her as we saw her in a hospital bed? Why has the ambassador woman’s husband disappeared? Who is this Michael guy and his family??

Ok so they just said Dan (blond policeman?) is dead.... but how is he dead?? Also what happened to the Russian (I think he was) guy who fell down the hole??

I have never heard of this show but from your questions it sounds completely bonkers!!!

It really is! I watched the first couple of episodes like WTAF?! But I have really got into it! It’s about people that live in this little town in the Antarctic. A strange plague like thing happened from a frozen mammoth..... turning some of the people crazy...

Oh also!!! Where has the family gone with the boy who killed the guy?!?

Keep watching. All will be revealed. I love this series

Absolutely bonkers, but one of my favourite shows!

Ok! It took me halfway through first series to understand why the hell we were in the Antarctic!!! I was just watching, like whaaaaaaaaat?! I have no really got into it!

Apparently it was very expensive to make and I am guessing not well enough promoted to get the numbers they needed?
It seemed to remain quite niche, not many people I spoke to had heard of it.
Might be the problem going forward with Prime, Netflix etc., There is so much to choose from now only the strongest (aka most promoted) will survive

But but but.... what was the answer??? How did they stop it all?? Did Dan die? Did he get eaten by a polar bear? What about the woman who went blind?? And the random woman that came in, who the hell was she? The one who needed everyone’s spinal fluid? They went off on an aeroplane to a hospice? But it ended with her crying blood.... ?!
