Dickensian -suitable viewing for a 10-year old?

DC1 has just finished a topic on The Victorians (including some Dickens) and loved it. She saw that Dickensian is available on BBC iPlayer, and wondered whether she could watch it. DP and I can't agree, I remember it being brilliant, but DP recalls it as being very dark and not at all suitable for a child.
What do you think?

I'd say it was suitable.it is dark in places, and a few hints at Nancy's profession but nothing overt. We bought it on dvd and watched it with our then 11 year old. He really enjoyed it. We,re probably going to rewatch it on iplayer but DS is too cool now to watch TV with his boring old parents. We really enjoyed it and would have loved a 2nd series.

Thank you, PJs. I too would have loved a second series, I couldn't understand why it was dropped. I'll get back on it with DP.
