How depressing is this What is the betting Stevie Paul's mum can't read well herself. Unconvinced by forest school as a long term constructive route to literacy.

I think that Forest school is a great idea for young children, but it won't teach them how to read. If pure synthetic phonics is used then there is more time for collecting leaves and nature trails.

It is a concept popular in Europe with their preschool age group (bearing in mind they dontl start shcool until a year later than UK counterparts), so approx 3 1/2 - 6yr olds, either as a stand alone or a session within Kindergarten. Deserving in its own right but a tenuous link to literacy I felt.
