Has anyone been watching this?

Basically they've selected a group of people who have dedicated a large portion of their life to learning bush craft and survival skills and are seeing if they could cope as cavemen.

Well, if they were actual cave men I'm pretty sure they'd all be dead! From what I've seen so far they are terrible cave people! It's taken them about a month to catch two fish!

Despite them being dreadful I'm quite looking forward to the next episode.

I'm of an age to remember "Living in the past" from the 1970s. When a bunch of folks tried to live an Iron Age lifestyle for a year.

I'm quite enjoying it. And it's made me Google walking in the Rhodope mountains. They look wonderful.

I love that every upside the commentary bangs on about how long they’ve all lived off grid and are experts, yet they couldn’t catch anything for weeks.
For example Ahmed is some sort of ultra marathon runner. Excuse me if that doesn’t need a decent amount money ie a proper job, to travel round the world competing. I know he was a Royal Marine so apparently that’s means he’s expert on everything wilderness. Actually no, that’s not commensurable with people that love or grown up in the wild, he’s just been taught to survive in it.

Anyway favourite moment was the women cutting her fanjo on leaves. Rookie error. And the look on the younger girls’ face as the others peered up leave ladies flange. Brilliant.

I'm enjoying it, due to their lack of skills!
I mean, I'm no expert, but why would you abandon a valley, with a river, to hang out in a pine forest, where virtually nothing will grow under the canopy, so no foraging and few animals?
Everything they have spotted by way of game, they have scared off - have they ever killed anything with their primative weapons or have they just got lucky demonstrating spear skills on a wooden deer to a captive audience at a County show?
Why do half of them not wear shoes? Surely a good way to end up with sepsis or tetanus?

Yes that bit with the cut was hilarious, how bad had she cut it that she needed others to look?! Loved some of their expressions

I have a feeling stone age people did sometimes go for weeks without catching anything, so maybe its kind of realistic, although does surprise me they couldn't catch anything in the river

I also loved the drama of when they were shouting that guys name and he started running, and then the discussion about whether they should be allowed to go out hunting on their own.

One thing I would have liked to see is a few children in the group, although possibly a bit unethical as they were all starving by day 4, but I recon it would be much harder to carry and care for young children as well as building shelters and finding food etc

Channel 4. So far there have been 2 episodes, next one is on Saturday

Something tells me prehistoric people's lives were nothing like this. It's so arrogant of us always to portray them as idiots. They were intelligent and skillful; we're not even smart enough to replicate their lives.

Which I suppose is personified by the bunch of muppets on this programme.

They have that look about them don’t they. Leaf lady also plays some sort of pipe thingy quite prolifically. No stranger to a folk festival bet.

I agree about the children. One of the most haunting things I watched was about some deep Stone Age pit where they found lots of animal bones and a skeleton of a small boy with a broken arm. I think his mum was found nearby, They thought the only thing that would cause all these different animals to be found in the same place was the search for water. Can you imagine the conflict between dying of thirst or risking your boy to down a massive drop. And him failing. Still a bit traumatised by that.

I agree about the children, a tribe wouldn't have lasted very long without the next generation. Though it's understandable why they didn't include them. Also, I'm pretty sure most of these people would have been considered ancient in Stone Age times.

Anyway, leave that couple alone in their cave long enough and they might solve the children issue anyway So obvious why they wanted to split from the group, haha
