No horror or rom-com please! Like hard hitting drama or action movies or something interesting.

The Old Guard on Netflix is good.
Extraction (Netflix) is rubbish but entertaining.

The Social Dilemma is terrific. Documentary (with a few short scripted scenes played by actors) about social media and how insidious it is. It's really good.

Parasite is now on Amazon I think - it’s brilliant.
Game Night on Netflix - a sort of action comedy but surprisingly good (someone recommended it to me and I would have skipped it assuming Tom com).

Theory of Everything is really good
Everest

HotSince63 · 14/11/2020 16:51

I really enjoyed Bombshell on Prime.

torquewench · 14/11/2020 16:51

Green Book on Prime

IHaveBrilloHair · 14/11/2020 16:51

I recently enjoyed The Lie on Prime.

Covidchameleon · 14/11/2020 17:05

Oh second Bombshell as well.

SpeckleDust · 14/11/2020 17:11

I’ve recently watched the following in Prime which are all very different but a good watch:

Parasite (Korean language Oscar winner)
Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm (cringe-fest but funny if you like that sort of thing)
21 Bridges (action)

SpeckleDust · 14/11/2020 17:14

Also second:

  • Bombshell (totally passes the Bechdel test)
  • 1917

The Trial of the Chicago Seven is on Netflix and is excellent. Written & directed by Aaron Sorkin.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 14/11/2020 17:27

Thanks so much! Great recommendations there and lots I've not seen before 👍🏻

What did you go for @LifeInAHamsterWheel

ShakeaHettyFeather · 14/11/2020 23:04

The Irishman, the Eurovision movie - both on Netflix
Enola Holmes - for kids but remarkably fun.

Namethief · 14/11/2020 23:05

Captain Fantastic 👍

Tootsietoot · 14/11/2020 23:07

We enjoyed The Martian tonight

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 15/11/2020 09:11

I loved The Martian! And The Irishman.
I'd forgotten about the golf masters being on 🤦🏼‍♀️ So I watched This Is Us (new to it and absolutely loving it)
Planning to watch Bombshell when I can get near the TV again!

Discovered, by chance, that Dark Waters has just appeared on Prime.

Tis a drama based on true events, starring Anne Hathaway and one of my favourite actors - Mark Ruffalo.

Looking forward to watching this.
