I watched this not realising it would be 2 hours, and think I didn't really appreciate the second half as much as it might have deserved. Would love to read newspaper accounts of the trial at that time.
I hope some of the people involved will be interviewed as it would be good to know if they felt it was accurate.
Not doubting the police actions. Unfortunately common, and Nottingdale Police station had a really bad reputation not just for racism, but corrupt behaviour.
The area was much for run down than shown, very run down, with houses in terrible conditions.
And I think some of the timeline, eg the building of the westway was probably finished by then. And, maybe I was wrong but one of the scenes had what I think was meant to represent Grenfell being built, hadn't yet started.
I think the film was very moving, in an upsetting way, but have always found that Steve McQueen somehow cant help make things look a bit too beautiful - even in 12 Years a Slave.
