Hi all
Have any of you watched the series Breaking Bad ? I got into during lockdown. Was anyone disappointed with how it ended?
I liked Walt at The beginning. But then it went very dark. But I was still hoping he would get away with it in the end!
Happy to hear your views!

I think the ending was a perfect end to the series. Walt dying surrounded by his empire, Jesse becoming a free man, Hank dying for what he believed in. Perfect

DesperatelySeekingSunshine · 09/11/2020 21:06

If you want to be really disappointed watch the pile of shite that is El Camino!

DesperatelySeekingSunshine · 09/11/2020 21:08

A much better flash forward would have been Jessie living his best life in Alaska as a chemistry teacher family man.

Yes I have just finished El Camino - it was good to bring it all to a conclusion. I have just started Better Call Saul - currently about to start episode 3 of the 1st series. My husband was looking at me weirdly when I was whooping for seeing Tuco fit the first time!

Oh Breaking Bad is fantastic. I hated Walt and Skylar. Loved Jesse and Hank & Marie. The only thing that's come close to it for me is Line of Duty.

Better Call Saul is great too. I was constantly shouting at Kim to LTBGrin
Goodness knows when we'll get season 6. I don't think they've started filming it yet.

@0blio

I was amazed how my feelings for Hank changed so much throughout. His character development was awesome.
Yes to this! Oblio The acting was so good each character believable and as you rightly say they all changed throughout, so when Jesse was very annoying at the beginning we were cheering for him at the end. Walter obviously changed so much it was unreal. But these roles like Mike and Hank were just acted so well too, and when he said that he knew what was going to happen right from when he was brought there (trying not to spoiler alert) (sobs) it was great TV!

I was / am obsessed by it. Made my bloke wear a Heisenberg t-shirt. I watched the series years ago but only recently watched the last few episodes. I cried when Walter died.

Nothing else has ever come close, other the Better Call Saul.

Dutchesss · 15/11/2020 19:01

I still can't get over the scene where Walt gives the nod to killing Jesse. That crushed me.

DGRossetti · 16/11/2020 13:25

Personally, I think "The Shield" (which had a few Hmm moments) was an amazing series in terms of how it manipulated the viewers emotions. No spoilers, but it keeps up for seven seasons with you rooting for Vic when you really, really shouldn't. And it's not because anything is hidden from you. Quite the reverse.

It's a brilliant piece of writing and acting.

I have got the Shield saved now in my favourites to watch when I have finished Better Call Saul! It’s quite old 2002.

Any other recommendations welcome!
I watched the first Small bit of the first episode of Killing Eve. But couldn’t really get into it. Probably because I was still in the middle of Breaking Bad.

Recently I enjoyed
Killing Eve - first series was great.
Succession was excellent too.
Sneaky Pete - loved it
Mr. Robot - about hackers and psychology
Fleabag you need to watch several times. So beautifully crafted.
Call My Agent - v enjoyable, subtitles, in French

DesperatelySeekingSunshine · 16/11/2020 19:49

The Americans- deep under cover KGB agents, masquerading as an All American suburban family, set in the early 80s
It’s so good!

I'm a bit late to this thread but wanted to say - I would really recommend watching Breaking Bad a second time after absorbing it a bit.

I first watched it years ago and similarly to OP felt like Walt could have been redeemed. I also really hated skyler. Watching it again recently was an absolute revelation. I realised Walt had always been dark, selfish, self-involved. And I had so much empathy for Skyler, and admiration for her grace in a horrifying situation.

Such clever writing. All the character arcs in this series were beautiful.

clpsmum · 24/12/2020 01:47

Bit of an older one but sons of anarchy. I love BB but then I watched sons of anarchy and it's so much better

AmongUs · 24/12/2020 02:21

Absolutely loved Breaking Bad. Stayed up til 3am many a time watching it then got into Better Call Saul then Ozark then El Camino then White Lines and now just finished Queen of the South. Looking for the next box set ... late nights doing me in though but can't help it. Takes me away from own problems.

Heartofgoldmumof2 · 27/12/2020 10:06

I’m on series 3 of Better Call Saul. I have Ozark saved to watch. Some others have recommended the shield which is from 2012. I will look for Sons of Anarchy, white lines and queen of the South. Have also just started watching anew series The Flight Attendant with my H because he likes Kaley Cuaco - we are only 2 episodes in.
