Anyone watch Ambulance last night (4th Nov)?

A lady called 999 as she had found her boyfriend hanging. She got him down, the noose off his neck and was on the phone to the call handler obviously distressed. He was still breathing but had blood over his head/face. Next thing there's a commotion over the line, the boyfriend comes on the line and says to the call handler there's no need for an ambulance - it was a "Halloween practical joke" and the blood was fake blood he had put on his head. I was so enraged watching it. I actually think I would leave a partner if they ever played that type of "joke" on anyone.

In an even weirder twist, when his partner had got him down he'd actually cut his forehead on a "whaling harpoon" they had at home. So he ended up needing an ambulance after all. Then as this was deemed a weapon the anti-terror police also arrived on scene. What a waste of so many resources. His face was blurred on the programme but you could tell from his body and voice he was at least in his 40s. Old enough to know a lot better you would think. Idiot.

Fucking hell, that’s appalling. Imagine doing that to someone 🙁

LatteLover12 · 05/11/2020 18:05

I watched it. I agree. What a shitty thing to do to a partner (or anyone). I hope she dumped him.

It was a total waste of resources.

I don,t think you could tell he was in his 40,s I though he was younger. The police thing was a bit dramatic and not asked for though so don,t blame him on that but it was very foolish.

SinkGirl · 05/11/2020 18:23

Apparently he was 52! I didn’t see it but that is truly horrific.

Why is there no prosecution for cases like this?

FuzzyPuffling · 05/11/2020 18:24

I watched it and was disgusted too. I didn't get that he was in his 40's (not that it matters) and yes, I would definitely leave anyone who thought that was any kind of amusing joke.

What a total knob and what a dreadful waste of resources. Shame they can't charge him.

Back2Black · 05/11/2020 18:28

It was a whale grenade & he very kindly explained to the paramedic what it does. What an absolute bellend.

Toddlerteaplease · 05/11/2020 18:35

I saw it and agree, it was absolutely disgusting. His poor partner was absolutely distraught. I also hope she dumped him.

Usernamenumber999 · 05/11/2020 20:25

Didn’t see it but that is absolutely horrific!!! I hope to god she left him.

Not to mention surely he could have accidentally done it for real just setting up the scene?

There's already a thread

NellyJames · 05/11/2020 23:21

@purpleme12, that thread is a general thread about the series. This thread is about a very specific, appalling ‘joke’ that an idiot played on his partner. She was distraught. What a tosser. Surely she left him after that?

purpleme12 · 05/11/2020 23:22

The thread was about the series, as every thread is on Tele addicts. People post when they watch the episode

A long time ago my parents went to a New Year fancy dress party at a friend’s. The friend was a judge. During the course of the party an armed gunman entered the house who was apparently an aggrieved recipient of the judge friend’s justice. My parents had managed to barricade themselves in the kitchen and my dad pushed my mum out of the window. She sprinted over a mile in bare feet and a fancy dress outfit completely unsuited to the weather conditions to report this at a police station (it was before mobile phones and she did not know where the local phone boxes were.) Whilst she was in the police station, the gunman shot the judge, in front of his wife. An ambulance was called, the police turned up, and the judge was forced to admit it was a joke and he had paid the gunman, and the blood and gun were fake. No one ever went to the judge’s for New Year again, his wife left him, and to this day I am amazed anyone could think this was a good practical joke. I can’t believe someone else would make the same idiotic misjudgement.

FuzzyPuffling · 06/11/2020 08:06

Jeepers backinthebox that's an appalling thing to do. My mind is utterly boggled by anyone who thinks this is a "funny" thing to do. Where are their heads at, for goodness sake?

Marcelduchamp · 06/11/2020 08:25

Omg! That's awful. Yes I couldn't be with someone who did that. Imagine all the things going through her head when she found him! Ffs.

I used to watch this program and then had to stop as I found it too upsetting.

Maverick66 · 06/11/2020 18:01

I watched and thought what an absolute waste of resources.
I think people like that should be fined.
