Poor Anton.

I hope she's having the time of her life Smile

Noooh, she wasn't quite down to Ann's standard! She was more of a John Sergeant/Fiona Phillips....

the80sweregreat · 31/10/2020 21:42

I think she'll get the push this week or next! She tries hard but there's no personality there. (I know I'd be the same though. I can't dance for toffee)

percheron67 · 31/10/2020 22:23

Bordering on!

Crinkle77 · 31/10/2020 22:54

I agree @the80sweregreat. Ann Widdecombe was so bad she was great. Ed Balls went for the comedy factor and he had the brilliant choreography from Katya.

Clawdy · 31/10/2020 22:58

She's not great, but not as bad as Ann W.

Ellmau · 31/10/2020 23:18

No, definitely not. She's the weakest this year but I've seen a number worse in past years. Ann W was terrible, vying for Worst Ever, but sometimes so bad it was incredibly entertaining (her paso...).

SpanishFly · 31/10/2020 23:49

I think anton is part of the problem. He laughs throughout the dance as if he's mocking her. And the choreography was awful.

LuluJakey1 · 31/10/2020 23:51

She is dreadful; wooden, has no rhythm and is terribly dull.

tigger1001 · 31/10/2020 23:55

I've not watched it yet but when I saw what their dance was I thought this won't be good

RAOK · 31/10/2020 23:56

No but she’ll go tomorrow. All the rest are pretty good.

the80sweregreat · 01/11/2020 09:58

Ed Balls was fab and had musicality. His cotton eye joe dance was very good.
There was a presenter on a few years ago who was slim and beautiful but she couldn't dance that well but because she looked the part from the get go she had a sort of pass on being wooden and not that great! Anyone who is a bit bigger and just ordinary looking gets a raw deal!
Such is life!

AnnieHoo · 01/11/2020 11:50

I LOL'd at Craig's comment that she looked "lost at a party.... drunk". So cruel!

awaynboilyurheid · 01/11/2020 12:02

I'm not sure how after a full week with Anton she had no bounce at all in her feet for the samba!! None!! how did she manage that!! You just knew when the swing came down Anton had giving up trying with her and can we really blame him! No!

the80sweregreat · 01/11/2020 13:11

Annie, Craig is funny but I did think that was a bit cruel! He wouldn't have said it about a man who wasn't very good.
It's such a shame they didn't do Halloween this year. I thought it might be because they can' their make up done by others and that is harder to do than just normal make up they can do themselves?
It's been a bit flat too I think. Covid has much to answer for :(
Bill Bailey was good : he is taking it very seriously.

Ellmau · 01/11/2020 13:20

Not so sure about that @the80sweregreat, I'm sure I remember him saying male celebs looked like the drunk uncle at a wedding.

picklemewalnuts · 01/11/2020 13:24

Bill Bailey was amazing! I have high hopes for him!

Bless her, she looked so far beyond her comfort zone. And I'd agree she rivals Anne. Anne had the excuse of being far more physically challenged, and she threw herself into it personality wise. She and Anton had a ball.

Hopefully something less challenging than Samba will give her a better chance.

Each year, I hope that Anton will get a decent celebrity partner - one with a realistic chance of winning - instead of the comedy ‘middle aged/elderly lady’ contestant. And every year I am disappointed.

He got to the final last year with Emma Barton.

That won't be happening this year, obviously.

the80sweregreat · 01/11/2020 13:59

Oti is a brilliant choreographer and plays to her partners strengths. I hope Bill does well as his obviously working hard.
Anne was a game contestant. She was entertaining and when Anton dragged her around the room that time did make me smile.

picklemewalnuts · 01/11/2020 14:00

Wasn't it Anton dancing with Emma that highlighted his weakness in the Rumba department? Didn't he look a bit creepy?

picklemewalnuts · 01/11/2020 14:01

And yes, Oti is great! Really good at bringing out the strengths of her partner.

I can't remember what Gorka looks like now his hair is different. It's like having an entirely new celeb. I can't place him at all.

Louiselhrau · 01/11/2020 14:02

I think Anne's great, she's a bit toff but always on the ball

picklemewalnuts · 01/11/2020 14:06

I read a really interesting interview with Anton, his back ground is so different on what I'd assumed.

RaspberryCoulis · 01/11/2020 14:07

I really think Anton has had his day. I'm sure he's a lovely bloke but his choreography is stuck in the 70s with top hats and canes.

For the celebs and pros who go out early that's a massive bonus this year - no need to schlepp into the studio every weekend for group dances as they're all pre-recorded. Feet up, at home, on the sofa.

the80sweregreat · 01/11/2020 14:17

Anton is stuck in the past with his routines.
He did well with Emma , but as an actress she could give the dances a bit of glamour.
If your not light on your feet or have any rhythm it can look a bit lumpy and forced.
(Which is how I would look! )
