I just had a big binge-watch of all the Skins series, which I’ve not seen since they came out (14ish years ago I think for the first series! ).

I was a teenager when season 1 came out and it was such a big thing amongst my age group, it’s been weird re-watching them as an adult. I also watched the last generation of skins for the first time but it was a bit meh compared to the originals.

Did anyone else watch these back in the day??

I loved the first few seasons.

(So interesting to see what all the cast have gone on to do too!)

Though I watched it again a few years back and think they over did the drug use. Literally all of them took drugs constantly and it just seemed... a bit much.

Yep the constant and casual drug-use was quite OTT, and definitely not an accurate representation of real 16/17-year-old sixth form students! I think that part of the appeal to teens though.

I appreciated the humour a lot more as an adult, there were quite a few jokes and references that had gone over my head originally but really had me laughing this time round. But I found some of the characters a lot more annoying and a lot of it just seemed like whiney teenage angst stuff. I used to just love Cassie and think Effy was incredibly cool, but I just found them irritating characters when re-watching.

Loved all the clothes though! 10/15 years isn’t that long ago but it’s made me nostalgic for all the noughties fashion

Oh gosh yes effy annoyed the shit out of me. But then I guess that's the sign of a good actress lol.

Odd thing I remember noticing at the time - a lit of the girls look like they have exactly the same nose. Maybe it was something to do with the makeup.

First time I watched, I really sympathised with creepy Sketch. Last time I was like 'oh holy shot she is creepy' lol. Definately different watching it as an adult.
