Is coming to All4 from Wednesday 21 Oct.

Just thought that might cheer some people up...

It is such excellent TV.

GreyBow · 22/10/2020 04:17

@Ohdeariedear

The special is on Vimeo if you hunt for it...
Any hints on how?
Beautyoftheirdreams · 22/10/2020 08:28

The special is also on All4, under 'season 8'

I don't mind Mandy as much as I can't stand Ainsley.

StationView · 22/10/2020 11:50

I've always thought that Alison Janney must have had an absolute ball playing Tonya Harding's mum. So completely different from the elegant, well spoken CJ!

Ohdeariedear · 22/10/2020 18:39

@GreyBow I just typed ‘West wing when we all vote’ in the search and got it. However, I believe it might have been taken down now for copyright reasons.

Where? Mine lists season 1-7, documentary special, Sept 11 episode and that's it.

I always liked Ainsley.

Mandy was irritating.
Amy a bit too try-hard.

S1 shouldn't be dissed if you can ignore Mandy, there are some great moments in it.

@Graphista it's all there now, the whole lot.

Beautyoftheirdreams · 22/10/2020 19:21

Oh sorry, I thought the special you were referring to was the Sept 11 one.

Amazon Prime has the old voting special. I think there was another filmed this year but not seen it

Graphista · 22/10/2020 21:13

Fantastic. For those that are already fans and us that missed our first time around (think I was living overseas at the time. Great experience but dire tv!)

I'm just watching eat well for less then I'm gonna try west wing. Hope I like it, I should it's my kinda thing - fans already I like scandal, the American president, madam secretary...

And I LOVE a few good men, malice (not met many people who've seen this) and I was so disappointed studio 60 on the sunset strip got cancelled it was a fab show!

So by that I should like it right?

Starksforthewin · 22/10/2020 21:33

Absolutely Graphista

You sound right on target for the West Wing demographic.

I predict within about six episodes you will cast all of those other programmes into the ether in your new found devotion to TWW. 😀

Graphista · 22/10/2020 22:29

Haha dunno about that!

I do love madam secretary, scandal jumped the shark towards the end and got a bit daft but I generally love Shonda Rhimes' stuff and love how to get away with murder too

Starksforthewin · 22/10/2020 23:06

I agree about Scandal. I loved the premise and the first season, then it went completely bonkers and I lost interest.

Tried Madam Secretary but the husband as spy plotline just bored me senseless.

PoorMansPaulaRadcliffe · 22/10/2020 23:28

I actually feel so sorry for Moira Kelly. Decent actress who was completely shafted by that turn in 'The West Wing'. She was probably relieved to get the 'One Tree Hill' gig.

Graphista · 22/10/2020 23:28

Oh John Spencer! Love him!

And Stockard Channing! Didn't even know she was in it! LOVE her

Loving it so far just one episode in!

Bit weird seeing "Cuddy" from house as a very young law student/prostitute!

I'm afraid being an old gimmer it being over 20 years old means it's "new" to me, anything post 2000 feels "new" and while this is 1999 that still counts. But then I recently rewatched and enjoyed the golden girls Grin

PoorMansPaulaRadcliffe · 23/10/2020 02:09

The GG is a masterpiece.

Starksforthewin · 23/10/2020 18:45

John Spencer is magnificent in TWW.

I always say at work, What Would Leo Do? No one knows what I’m talking about but it makes me happy.😀

Graphista · 25/10/2020 02:31

Youse could have warned me I needed a big box of tissues! It's nearly as bad as this is us!

Watching in exelsis deo seriously sad for a Christmas episode

openupmyeagereyes · 25/10/2020 06:58

Oh how I love this. I have it on DVD but so much easier to watch it online.

I watched the when we all vote special last night. It was fantastic but very strange seeing another actor play Leo’s part.

Danglingmod · 25/10/2020 07:06

John Spencer is pure class.

I have watched WW multiple times and I always forget how much I hate Mandy until season 1 rolls round again. Amy is affected and a bit annoying but I don't mind her.

A student at school was putting his blazer on the other day, doing the Martin Sheen jacket flip, and knocked something over. He looked worried he would get told off and then when I said "if it's good enough for President Bartlet..." he looked at me like I'd totally lost it. Know your audience.

PoorMansPaulaRadcliffe · 25/10/2020 08:07

It's never occurred to me before this thread that Amy was annoying (possibly that bit where she dances to Van Morrison's 'Caravan'). But I like MLP, and I liked Amy. I think people don't like her because she delayed Josh and Ole Weak-Chin.
Nothing is annoying as the white-boy head-thrusting and finger-popping they all do while watching Alison Janney do 'The Jackal'.

Ohdeariedear · 25/10/2020 09:02

@PoorMansPaulaRadcliffe I have to ffwd through The Jackal, it gives me the absolute cringe. Even Allison Janney and she’s usually magnificent.

PoorMansPaulaRadcliffe · 25/10/2020 09:08

It's awful, isn't it? It apparently evolved from AJ lip-syncing to it in her trailer and make-up artists and visitors mildly enjoying it, and then people somehow being convinced it would work as a 'bit' on an much-lauded political drama. They were wrong. I can do the whole of 'Regulate' by Warren G ft. Nate Dogg, but no sane person would enjoy watching me do it.

Destinysdaughter · 25/10/2020 09:10

I'm not sure I will be able to take Martin Sheen seriously as the president after seeing him in Grace and Frankie!

PoorMansPaulaRadcliffe · 25/10/2020 09:13

Crikey. Don't watch 'Badlands', then . . .
