OMG

I can't believe there was a wife swap with such a happy ending!

OP posts:

Yes it was better than all the others as both families made some positive changes....

JoolsToo · 19/10/2004 22:05

I didn't watch - thought it would be like all the others and didn't think I could take it!

AuntyQuated · 19/10/2004 22:09

what a pleasant change. nice to see positive things coming out of it

paolosgirl · 19/10/2004 22:34

I actually cried at the end! Def. need to get out more. It was great that each person was willing to learn and change from the experience, instead of the usual slanging match that goes on. Poor old Gerhard - he had the rug (deservedly) pulled out from under him, didn't he!

Merlin · 19/10/2004 22:37

Glad I wasn't the only one who had a tear in her eye at the ending ... ahhhhhhh (I was just blaming it on the pregnancy hormones!) Laughed at Gerhardt in his 'trendy' gear doing karaoke!!

paolosgirl · 19/10/2004 22:39

And I can't spell Gerhardt!

Merlin · 19/10/2004 22:40

Wasn't sure if mine was right either!!!

marthamoo · 19/10/2004 22:41

I didn't watch either because it's usually so "car crash" TV and leaves me feeling like I need a good scrub with carbolic soap! Glad it had a happy ending for once (that won't last!)

KangaMummy · 19/10/2004 23:04

I enjoyed it tonight too, and the english couple getting married ahhhhhhh

blossomhill · 19/10/2004 23:14

OMG - I missed it. Do they repeat on E4?

It was nice to see both families benefit from this swap. For once something good came out of it and it didn't end up in a huge slanging match.

Oh I opted out of this because I too thought the series was going all "car-crash TV" on us. Poo, sounds like I missed a good one. Amanda Redman discovering her Irish family history was unexpectedly moving on BBC 2 though!

LIZS · 20/10/2004 13:48

I was prepared for it to be a stereotypical view of repressed German Hausfrau vs liberated Brit but was pleasantly surprised at the more detached approach that in previous episodes although I still thought there were more digs than necessary. Sharon after her inital outbursts actually handled the culture shock pretty well and the German lady, whose name I've already forgotten did get a taste of the life she ahd denied herself. Seemed positive all round for once although I'm not sure Gerhardt really made that many compromises in the end.

Is last night's Wife Swap too boring to discuss?

nikcola · 27/10/2004 16:02

i ilked their big house that man was sooooo tight x

Tinker · 27/10/2004 16:09

Which actor did the American guy remind me of? Kevin Kline? I think I would have found it hard not to snigger when he did that "Let me speak" bit or whatever he said when his voice went all low when they were having the chat about the son's bedtime.

This series seems to be less about lashing out at the end, more about trying to calmly learn something. So far anyway

nikcola · 27/10/2004 16:16

yeh it is getting better, he actually apoloagised to the lady wich was nice he was out or order though to shout at her like that, there house was too clutured and dirty
