Anyone else fed up with the same stuff being "recommended" to them on the various services?

I'm in that weird post binge limbo where I'm trying to find my next binge.

I'm fed up to the back teeth of having the same shoes and films "recommended" to me as what the service's algorithm thinks I will like which includes:

Stuff I've already watched so I don't NEED telling I'll like it

Stuff I've tried or know from the description that I WON'T Like

I want new titles that are similar to the titles I like, with the actors/writers/directors I like behind them

I always struggle with this stage which is how I end up watching the same stuff on repeat that I already know I like.

Maybe it's an age thing I don't know but it's really frustrating and irritating.

Any tips on how to avoid this?

Recommendations that AREN'T the usual breaking bad, marvellous mrs maisel etc?

Even googling throws up the SAME shows and movies repeatedly and even those "Netflix roulette" sites and apps same problem - it's the same shows and films being pushed constantly!

Drives me nuts

Yes I agree!

I'm sure there used to be better search functions so you could look deeper into what is available.

When I look on DS account I see all sorts of different suggestions

Forgot to say, my comments relate to Netflix

It's algorithms. It's the cause of a lot of issues in general ime. It basically happens on everything so people only get exposed to the same thoughts and ideas over and over again - a virtual echo chamber. But I digress...

The best thing to do is to set up another profile and watch/add some more random stuff and you might get some different suggestions. DH and I have a profile each plus a shared one and we get different recommendations on each one.

What have you enjoyed on Netflix and we can maybe give you some suggestions we have enjoyed?

Netflix here. "To be removed" lists are useful for coming across items that rarely appear on trending or popular. Watching one of those can bring up a wider range of recommendations.

Agree with pp re echo chamber. Increasingly frustrating.

Extra profiles is a great idea! Will do that.
