OMG, just worked out that if I stood on DH's shoulders I still could not look him in the eyes. He is 7ft 7.

are you teeny people?

PeachesMcScream · 09/10/2007 21:51

That makes you 3ft and your DH 4ft 7???

Methinks you need to brush up on your arithmetic, kinder

becklespookle · 09/10/2007 21:54

Poor bloke, my DH gets singled out enough for his height and he is only 6ft 7. Can't be easy to stand out that much.

kindersurprise · 09/10/2007 22:00

oops. no, wait a minute, I translated it to metres as I do not do foot and inches.

7ft 7 is 2.32 cm

Must have pressed the wrong button! We are small but not that small!

For the record, I am 1.60m and DH 1.65m

OP posts:
Desiderata · 09/10/2007 22:08

What's that in feet?

gordieracer · 09/10/2007 22:10

About 11 feet!!

kindersurprise · 09/10/2007 22:12

Not trying the conversion thing again, it will probably work out that I am 3 ft 16 or something!

Why can Britain not join in with the rest of Europe, feet and inches are just too complicated. And do not get me started on lbs and ounces!

Lol, Mum bought 350g of ham last time she visited us, we were eating ham sandwiches morning noon and night for days.

Desiderata · 09/10/2007 22:15

Don't get me started on England joining in with the rest of Europe It'll be a grim day i hell before I travel my roads in kilometers!

I can see where you're coming from mamazon and I did start thinking the programme was turning into a bit of a freak show. Especially how they built up to the bloke who was 8ft plus. Seemed a bit distasteful really.

kindersurprise · 09/10/2007 22:21

lol Mamazon, now I understand your name

I am the other end of the scale, always the smallest. It is worse here in Germany because people are taller here. No petite ranges in clothes, everything is always too big.

PeachesMcScream · 09/10/2007 22:22

NB: NOT suggesting you're a freak mamazon, I'd just been thinking they'd been doing it like a freak show then you came up with the same word...

Desiderata · 09/10/2007 22:24

You're right, there, Kinder. I used to go to Germany a lot as a travel guide. I used to have to get my clothes in children's stores when I needed to buy stuff on the road !

saltire · 09/10/2007 22:24

mamazon, I'm 6ft (or 5ft 11, depending which doc I go to) and I find people look at me like I'm a freak!. DS1 is going to be tall, and he is 9, wears 11-12 year old clothes and I have almost punched a woman before for calling him a freak - DH had to restrain me, and he said to the woman "I would move if I were you, because if I let her go it won;'t be pretty"
I forgot the show was on, I did want to see it

mamazon · 09/10/2007 22:25

no of course your not, i didnt think you were.

be gratefull of your size. it is easier to cut a bit off some trousers than to sew a bit on.

mamazon · 09/10/2007 22:26

ds is 7 and his school uniform is all size 11-12.

PeachesMcScream · 09/10/2007 22:29

I understand my DH was a similar size at that age. He's 6'7 now. Fine, apart from finding trousers. And comes in remarkably useful to settle fights peacefully in pubs (in our younger going out days)

saltire · 09/10/2007 22:31

My brothers are 6ft 7 and 6ft 4. My DSes aren't going to be short are they?
I just ge tannoyed when people make such an issue out of it
"Ooh aren't they tall". I bet no one ever says "ooh aren't you short" to smaller people

kindersurprise · 09/10/2007 22:40

I think it is all a bit of the grass being greener on the other side. Yes, in theory you can chop a bit off the legs of the trousers but often it changes the whole shape and form of them. Depends on the style.

I get the 7/8 jeans when I want full length ones and the 3/4 ones when I want 7/8 ones.

Saying that, I do not often get odd comments from strangers. That must be annoying.

Hmm, just reminded me of a funny photo. Must go and look for it.

Added pic, but cannot get it right way round. But you get the idea.

DH sometimes has to go to customers with this guy; it is certainly a way to break the ice with new customers when "Little and Large" appear.
